Hi, I'm hoping someone on here can help me with this.
My launch 360 has finally RROD'd so I've bought a new one (black 250gb) which should arrive soon. I've also ordered a data transfer cable. My question is this, can I transfer my old game data to my new HD for use on my new machine. I've seen some info online and it seems to be about upgrading your HD for the current machine, not an entirely new one. If I use the tranfer cable to overwrite my crisp new HD with the old HD data, can I then use the rewritten HD in the new XBox or will it be configured to work on my RROD 360? I'm sure this is obvious to those with more technical understanding than me. I guess the summary of what I'm asking is will my new HD be configured to only work on my old machine once I've transfered the data? Thanks in advance for any help, Gabe.

I don't think there's any process of binding it to a machine, it just moves everything over. The hard drives are unclippable like that because they're supposed to be easily moved over to a new system. I don't know for sure because Microsoft never gave me a transfer cable and I could never be bothered paying for one.

Found a video online and it looks like I'll be ok though it overwrites your new drive completely. I've got my shiny new hardware at home right now but no transfer cable for another week and because it's a slim, vs my original launch machine, I can't just stick my old HD in it for now to get my ME fix.
And I think my PS3 is on the way out with an occassional blinky red light when I try to boot up.. Damn it.

I don't know how they work, but if you still need a 360 transfer cable, check on eBay cause they've got them pretty cheap.
I only paid a couple bucks(with free shipping) for mine. |
