Default Downgrading

Ok, first of all just want to say I don't intend for this topic to go anywhere that might breach the rules here, so if any of the mods feel this is innappropriate then just lock/delete this straight away!

Right onto the question (seem to be asking a few of them at the moment), is it worth downgrading to 1.50 firmware? I really want to get stuck into some homebrew apps and it seems the only of doing that without causing a problem is downgrading from 3.50 to 1.50. I really don't want to brick my PSP or cause any long term damage, but I'm kinda feeling the itch to try new stuff with it at the moment. Any thoughts?

If you brick it, buy a used original model in another few months, after they become next to worthless when the new PSP model is released.

I'm thinking of selling my PSP anyhow. The biggest reason I got it was because of the promise of downloading cheap PS1 games. Since Sony seem bent on keeping that an exclusive for the PS3 owners, I guess I'll just get rid of the stupid thing. Just sits there in its case...

Or you could downgrade it and rip the games that you already own and that aren't on the ps store?

I haven't kept up with the scene for 6 months, so I'm not sure.

Is it worth downgrading for PSX games? I mean, guess thats the main reason for me wanting to do it, I have a huge itch to play FFVII and having it on PSP would be bliss.

Whilst I guess I'm on the subject, has anyone else here downgraded? Is it worth taking the risk?

It's worth downgrading for everything thats possible once you've dg'd (homebrew apps such as IRshell).

I figure it's worth doing it now, newest exploit (requires Lumines) allows up to v3.5 fw to be downgraded, and I'm about 99.98% sure the new slim PSP will have version 3.51+ which will be undowngradable for a very very long time, if not forever.

Just my 2cents

I barely have the time to play games, let alone fight the whole firmware/ripping/etc. process.

Not to mention, I've only got a handful of PS1 games in my possession.

Apparently you can't run PSX homebrews without downloading the Hot Shots Golf 2 game from the PS3 store.... that is quite annoying lol.
