Also you'll notice SD's sell for almost half the price of Memery Stick Pro Duo's.
8gb SD = $100+, while a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo 8gb = $200+.
4gb SD = $30+, while a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo 4gb = $75+.
2gb SD = $20+, while a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo 2gb = $40+.

Also let's see, all of the greatest high tech equipment....Treo, Blackberry, and let me put down all other Cellphones except Sony, Nintendo Wii, PS3, Every single damn Digital Camera on the market by every company which includes Canon and Nikon, except Sony, and probably a lot more junk i could name that supports SD. There are just more protects that support SD cards and they are far cheaper.

Like i said earlier, i love my PSP to death, but i feel like the only downfall it has is not supporting SD cards.

I didn't say Memory Sticks were cheap or cheaper, douche. I said they're cheaper for Sony to use. Sony can't use another company's patent without licensing it. Did you want your PSP to be even more expensive or something?

I don't see myself going higher for the PSP, I don't think I'd make use of even 512mb of it..

More importantly for me is getting some more Compact Flash cards for my camera.. I have a 2gb Lexar 133x Wa and I love it, I need to get another or two soon.
Got a 4 Gigger for my camera last week.

That cost evens out probably with the manufacturing process and development of the Memory Stick Pro Duo. Sony has always had proprietary shit and it's only for them to make more money. Ain't nothing wrong with that, but still, i would still rather it had SD and yes i would pay an extra $20 for the PSP if it had an SD slot. Would save me more in the long run.

The costs woudn't even out.

And while you may extra for a PSP, most people don't look at it that way. They prefer buying something cheaper - the entire American economy is like this, from food to cars. The bottom line is the price tag, and it's bad enough the PSP was already expensive for a handheld unit, despite its power. The average consumer sees a cheaper alternative and goes for that instead.

I have a 2 gig, two 1 gigs, a 512mb and that 32mb that came with my system. I keep a 1 gig in my PS3, the two gig in my psp amd the other 1 gig in my "other" psp. The prices were pretty insane there at the begining but I think the current prices are reasonable. I have a 1 gig SD in my digicam and a 2 gig SD in my Wii.... whew.

Stuff has changed alittle. Now I have a 2gig in my PS3, a 2 gig in my PSP, a extra 1 gig and 512. A 2 gig SD in my Wii and a 2 gig SD in my digi cam. That should be it for awhile. If I can get a 4 gig for a decent price I'd get one and sell my 1 gig and 512.

Still on the 32 MB that came with it. Don't use it much, truthfully (don't make time to game much at all). If Sony ever makes PS1 games available to non-PS3 owners, I'll upgrade to a 1GB. Don't listen to music on the PSP; my MP3 player is much smaller and better suited to that, even though it's now undersized (512 MB).

I hear ya lazer. I bought a nikon s6 digi cam and got a 2gb sd card with it then I got that shitty UtStarcom phone which I sold with a profit on ebay lol. I also picked up a 2nd SD card for the UT but sold it with the auction.

So I had 4gb sitting there doing nada..... That 8gb duo will be expensive once it's avail everywhere.

I still highly doubt that's the reason Sony did it!
