update on PS1 games brought from the EU PSN.. ie: Spyro, Medievil and (maybe Crash2)

"Dear PLAYSTATION®Store Customer,

Recently, you purchased Spyro 2™: Gateway to Glimmer, a PS one® classic game, from PLAYSTATION Store. We are currently investigating the reports of quality issues associated with this game and, as a result, we decided to remove Spyro 2™: Gateway to Glimmer from PLAYSTATION Store on Monday 30 July 2007.

You will be aware from the description of the product on PLAYSTATION Store that some variation in functionality from the original PS one version is to be anticipated, however there appear to be more significant technical issues. As a result, we will refund your purchase of Spyro 2™: Gateway to Glimmer within the next 7 working days to your PLAYSTATION Store wallet.

Once the refund to your wallet is issued, Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer will be removed from your PLAYSTATION Store Download list.

We hope that this hasn't spoiled your enjoyment of PLAYSTATION®3, and apologise if it has. For further PlayStation support, please visit eu.playstation.com

Thank you.

so as you can see... they have listend to everyone and have decided that giving money back was a good thing to do! lol. i made one comment that Sony was almost electronically mugging us, lol.. i wonder if they saw that? hehehe

still, its best that they resolve this, and this is the best way to do it. obviously what ever the problem is.. its rather big!!

i hope they give us more PS1 games... but as long as they work!

right, new and old games played.. heres a short (bloody short) snippet reviews..

1) Ghost Recon: graphics.. lovely, but foggy draw distance, making sniping a chore. lone wolf is nice, as using a team can be tiring.
But overall imo its not a great game, you feel as if youre cheated, because the game isnt meant to be 'that' linear, and it fools you in to thinking that it isnt linear, but it is. Also you get the feeling that if you crawl about then the enemy cant see you through the distant fog.. well they see you before you can react

control wise its a poor mans Socom, and it isnt anywhere near as well thought out. also because they have tried to make the game in to GRAW, its just isnt what you expect. I guess if you havent plyed many PSP FPS's and you havent played GRAW on the 360/PS3.. then maybe you would like this game. After all, it has nice basic.. erm, nice graphics.

Brain Lara cricket: great lil game this, not a lot i can say apart from that its basic, yet deeeeep. very very much like the PS2 version, apart from the 5 day tests. if youre a fan of Cricket and you want a game on the go, this is just fine! im enjoying it, and i have no clue on cricket.. but a better idea of it now.

The Warriors: wow! i might just leave this at that! ..ok, i will go in deeper. the game is exactly like the ps2 version reviewed here :http://www.psxextreme.com/ps2-reviews/420.html which Frank gave a score of 8. But the PSP version is better imo (i did had the ps2 ver), Better for game play, being portable, graphics and general fun.. its a better port. and it works imo better on the psp than it ever did on the PS2.
on top of this there is a 'Double Dragon' type mini game (theres lots of mini games, multiplayer batters/rumbles to play). but the DD type of game is very very cool and really well animated. you play as Swan (a character from the film), very cool. so you go out and steal, rob, riot, have fights, go 70's gang stuff...

Read Franks review and add an extra point for the psp vesion for the bits i have mentioned. i heartily reccomend this game.

Shinobido: quality game, more action than Tenchu, and as for psp to psp, head to head between Tenchu PSP and Shinobido psp.. i have to say Shinobido is the better game. Tenchu should of been bloody amazing, if they had given us a port of the ps1 Tenchu 1 or 2, that would of been far better. Anyway, Shinobido improves on all of this, draw distance, missions, graphics, characters, gameplay.. everything! plus there are even missions to download that some bright spark has made up for us. one is even Tenchu's famous mission 'kill the evil merchant' lol. great game over all.

anyway, thats it, ive played more.. and will post my impressions as soon as i remember what games they were (lol).

dont forget that this month or very early next month is the new firmware update! which has some secret charging feature explained better here.. http://www.pspfanboy.com/2007/07/13/...harge-feature/

I bought Jeanne D'Arc the other day. I haven't played it yet, but I'm excited to play it. Not sure if I mentioned it, but I also picked up Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops not too long ago.

oh oh ohhh.. i want that!!! you must post and let us know what you think.. the review here on the main page is really good! certainly makes me want to play it.

but yeh, let us know if you can walk about from town to town, or if its scene by scene.. and how hard it is?

MGS: PO is brilliant, just convinced my mate to buy that too.. very cool game indeed.

i just remembered another game that i played.. Dave Mirror BMX.. it was bad! basically instead of using like the THPS on the PSP as the main engine. they used one from the PS1 version, where you dont bike it about and do stuff.. you take on challenge by chanllenge, and have no feeling that youre doing well.. or even any sense of achievment at all. certainly one to leave alone imo.

3.70 firmware is now up!!

and it deals with these issues....

You can now set custom themes in [Theme Settings] under [Settings].
Support has been added for assigning buttons in [Remote Play].
A scene search feature has been added under [Video].
Sequential playback is now supported under [Video].
Simultaneous playback of content under [Music] and [Photo] is now supported

hurrah hurrah hurrah

even more new firmware coming out!!!

the PSP and PS3 will probably be updated AGAIN this week.. 3.71 for the psp and 1.93 for the ps3.

the psp version should sort out niggles and go hand in hand with the real reason ..and that the PS3 update due to things like Warhawk etc etc..

PSP 3.71 will allow you to download themes.. i got the feeling this firmware may even come with themes to kick you off.

anyway, keep em peeled.. should be this week!

so.. anyone got anything new?

i downloaded Syphon filter 1 from the PSN.. love that game, and its still rather playable too... very col.

also its good to see that Sony have sorted out the problems with Medievel.. lets hope they can sort out Spyro while thay are at it!

anyway, my two main purcahses that i made a while... First is Tales of the world: Radiant Mythology.. which is very good indeed. not your classic RPG, but certainly one that i would recommend. im about 40 hours in to it now, and can say its a solid title.
Although, you need drive to play it longer than i have, as the storyline isnt as strong as other classic RPG's. so you find yourself doing hours and hours of sidequests. plus moving from map to map and town to town has been taken out of your hands, which again i think i am getting a little annoyed about. its basically a map of places, you push down or towards the area you need to go and your character runs to that area. yes it saves on random monsters that we all complain about, but sometimes you dont know youve missed it until its been taken away.

graphic wise its great, tho dungeons are a lil bare, still a good looking games that could last many many hours!

the other game i picked up is Crazy Taxi (lol).. very very cheap. it cost me £16 brand new!!! so, for a budget title i feel that this is a very cool game. its as annoying as the original, has the same annoying pop up in the same annoying places. its great!
You have crazy Taxi one and two on the same disk, tho i do prefer the first game, but its a quality decision to have both games in it! looks the same, feels the same... what can i say?

the downers is that you would of thought thay they would of improved it! lol.. for crying out loud! but still, im happy they havent messed with it i guess.
Also theres no Offspring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! which is a HUGE thing, not that i like Offspring (apart fron the first two albums) but i always think of Crazy Taxi when i hear 'Smash'.
the up side is that if you have MP3's on your psp.. you can play them, so if you had Offspring theres no difference.

great on the go, but a bit of a flash in the pan type game, but hey.. its bloody cheap and if you get it, you will probably be playing it in blasts for ages and ages to come. ...just like in the Dreamcast days!!

my next game, unless something good comes on the PSN will be Syphon Filter Logans shadow, and seeing as Blighty wont get it til the 23rd of Nov (wtf!?!), i will be getting the US version, like i did with the first game

edit: seems that GFAQ has SF: LS down as coming out in the uk on the 19/10/07.. so thats cool.

Picked up Locoroco over ebay the other day. Such a cool, fun game. If memory serves, there are extra levels for download somewhere, no? I should go look...

I'm not sure if they're still available but there are 2 that I know of aside from the Japanese and English demos, they are Halloween and Christmas themed demo levels. If you can't find those, I'll gladly send them to you.

I haven't bought any PSP games since around the time LocoRoco came out... I've mostly been playing that and Me and My Katamari if I ever get bored enough to pick up my PSP.

I still want Ace Combat X though

Edit:
Here are some links for the 2 levels I mentioned, to help you out
http://www.pspfanboy.com/2006/12/11/...adable-demo-m/
http://www.pspfanboy.com/2006/10/26/...alloween-demo/
There are like 3 other demo levels, but I think they're all fairly generic...

Svo.. go here www.pspdemocenter.com and you will be able to get all 5 demo's, plus themes and every demo out for the psp. fantastic site!!

has anyone played that Loco for the PS3? lol.. its different!! many hate it, but i rather like it.

i sold my Katamari, and i kinda miss it.... will certainly pick up the PS3 version when that comes out. im not sure f they wil ever do a sequel on the psp, as the version thats out is pretty perfect if you ask me.

as for Ace Combat, what a game!!! loved it, really cool... in fact, that is in my top ten games for the psp games i wished i had never sold

anyone play MACH or After Burner here??? i dont know if they can match up to Ace Combat, im scared to buy...
