lol... you really need to do more 'full stops' when you type,

Anyway.... Shadow.. what games to you play m8? the DS is a mighty fine handheld, make no mistake. my girlfriends got one, and ive played it a fair few times, and indeed think that it is awesome, but for me, I love my psp.

The games on the psp are console games, make no mistake. they might be bite size levels, (on some games) but then because of the sleep mode, you can have games that are exactly the same as its elder brother the ps2.

Where the DS has kept its handheld origins with Mario etc.. and then expanding to the other games where it uses the touch screen well, if you like that sort of gaming then there’s no need for you to buy a PSP.

But if you like games like Tekken, Socom, Syphon Filter, Final Fantasy, Burnout, GTA etc.. You will not get a satisfactory gaming exp imo on the DS. Plus with the mem stick going up to 4 gig these days and allowing you to play movies, music, browse your photos and the internet on a full browser, obviously the psp is the way forward.

Plus with the PSP being so (apparently) linkable (not a real word?) with the PS3, it will be very very interesting to see how the PSP transforms (or not) within the next year.

But at the end of the day it really depends on what you like in the way of games...

Im with you dillon for the same reasons, plus I don't like paying out for a handheld only to find a couple of years or so down the line they spring a better version of the same console that you have to spend the same price on as the first one, and when I say better I mean functionality like the backlight and brightness levels it should have had in the first place.

With PSP you get all that from the off, plus any system update's can be obtained in a number of ways.
PSP feels a more complete package to me and so I felt more comfortable buying it

I know it sounds like im Nintendo bashing, it's just the way I see it maybe im wrong, I did convince my mum to get a DS over PSP tho cos I knew the games on DS would suit her more.

Exactly Darth... couldnt agree more.

theres some fkg great games for the DS, but thats where they belong. ever seen or played Ridge Racer or Burnout on the DS? yes, its not bad... its better than what the GBA could manage thats for sure.

but Burnout for the PSP is imo amazing, but you KNOW that the next installment will be better. i wouldnt be surprised if they even brought out a very pretty and playable Burnout Revenge.. of which i would snap up in a heart beat.

GTA VCS wouldnt even come close to the psp version, plus just wouldnt 'feel' right on the DS imo.

Nintendo do right by their own standards, and i think its a mistake to compete where they will obviously loose out if it comes down to raw power.
the DS has something amazing, the touch screen... so they should use it in a way that the PSP just couldnt possibly do.

I'm probably getting my girl a DS for Christmas... Now back to PSP news. VCS was supposed to be my next game, now it might be Killzone. The demo left a REALLY good (although short) impression on me. This game is a sleeper hit, and the latest reviews seem to point that way too. Hell it might knock FtB 2 off my list... maybe.

It has 4 different ad-hoc modes but doesn't ship with Infrastructure, but you can download it to the game. Also announced were new maps and some other stuff free foe download.

i totally agree, Killzone looks like a must have if you like that sort of game.

have you seen IGN's review? its stonkin good!

personally I dont like those sort of games, but if i had a demo, i would at least try it out, and it may change my mind.

imo this is why Sony needs to put these demos on their site for download straight to psp. its unlikely that i will ever buy Killzone unless i KNOW i will like it, me totally lovin the FPS killzone isnt enough.

we need more demos on Yourpsp.com!

news on the PS1 emu for the PSP...

from pspupdates:
"Here's a very positive piece of news from Sony Computer Entertainment's Gamers Day: Sony revealed how PS1 games would end up on PSP's memory stick.

The PSP will get its games from the PS3. Instead of building a network specifically for the PSP, or trying to connect the PSP to Sony's Connect service, gamers can log into the PlayStation Store using their PS3, find your favorite PS1 games there, buy and download them, and then enjoy it on your PSP.

IGN speculates that that the PlayStation Store will also be integrated into the PSP in a future PSP firmware update. For now though, the console is integral for digital distribution. A number of PS1 gamers are already listed on the PlayStation Store. There is no promise though if the titles will be available for the PSP during launch. As for pricing, stuff on the PlayStation Store shouldn't exceed $15, so the price for PS1 game downloads should be within that range."

it is good news, but two things kinda piss me off .

1. having to own a PS3 to do this
2. paying AGAIN for the game you already have.

I still have all my PS1 games, about 200 of them, why would it be so hard to make something in the PS3 read the data from your old games and turn it in to a psp emu?

but all in all, it is fantastic and i am most certainly buying a PS3, its just that I want these PS1 games NOW!!! lol

That blows chunks!! I have no plans of buying a PS3. Maybe Gamestop will set up a PS3 in the store to allow for downloads of PS1 games onto the PSP... I doubt it, but maybe.

I agree with you, Dillon: why can't they make the PS3 capable of "ripping" your PS1 games to the PSP format (for free)? That would be nice, if you owned both the PS3 and the PSP.

That would mean having some software built-in which would cost them money to produce, and of course that cost would be past on to the customer, making PS3 more expensive, also if they hard-wire it in the machine and it turned out to be full of bug's they didn't know about, we'd be well pissed.

Any chance of them selling a emu disc? Not sure of the technical side of this but any thoughts as to if it would be possible?
