Um, I just signed in and got a firmware update?!?

I THINK SONY IS PLANNING SOMETHING!!!!!!!

It seems to be pretty frigging big, because it's taking it's time, and I'm on 12mb/cable

yes, but that was a pretty long download to 'fix' some games, and they don't even say which ones really. They're beating around the bush I say!



added note: I can't confirm this myself, but somebody posted elsewhere the filesize for the update was 119mb... I dunno, just seems to me, there would be more notes than "we fixed online stability" but even so... That's kind of vague.

yeh, i saw a post like that on Gamefaq's....

what some guy said (which could make sense) is that when you download any patch, it downloads everything again.. so rather than bulding up your patches you are wiping the last update clean off your system and reloading the new one on.

but saying that..theres been times when Sony has put stuff in the FW and not told anyone! so you never know!

Well it was a 'mandatory' update as they have put it... I mean all I did was turn my PS3 on and got "DOWNLOAD THIS UPDATE NOW OR DIE!" ... well... OK, so it wasn't threatening, lol, but it pretty much told me I had to download it when I turned the PS3 on. I don't know, with them being so hush-hush recently, I wouldn't be at all amazed if this update has something to do with HOME. That's being wishful and hopeful, but think about it... There's suddenly emails going around from Sony telling beta testers to merge their accounts, the same day there's a firmware update which they're really not saying much about. The whole HOME thing aside from the fact I'm sure it'll be a download from the PSN, I feel will have needs to change things within the firmware for it. It's just a wild guess though. Plus, HOME is a online based, right? :P Stability for open beta? HAHA! *cough* I need to drop the shovel.

I am dreading reconnecting my PS3 to the internet. All the downloads I need to catch up with will be immense. I'll have to leave it connected all Saturday!

I wonder if there are any decent demos I have missed? I am sure there will be on my 360.
