Is there any word on Sony ever upping the Flash player on its web browser, the amount of times Ive got a trailer from the PSN store with whatevergame.com at the end only to find out I need Flash 8 or higher when I go to it is annoying, I have very limited access to a PC so the PS3 is my main way of getting around the interwebs.
I may want to buy some of these games if I could just get to see what their about, you'd think that Sony would make these sites more accessable(by way of firmware) so that 14 year old Timmy can start drilling mom and dad for the cash good and early. We the ones trying to look at this stuff on our PS3 are the audience that they want yet were shut out, and we have to look to M$ to access what we want.

I know Sony have already put some effort into expanding the playablilty of different movie files but this is one I would have expected to see nice and early.
Fingers crossed it's sorted soon. I'm not sure what the connection is between Microsoft and the guys who own the flash player rights.

What I mean is for pages that require Flash 8 or above we more offten than not have to turn to a PC with M$ Windows to get at it, but yeah there could be some sort of deal that prevents Sony giving us access.

Agreed, flash updates would be nice.
From using my PSP, I learned I can access MSN and Yahoo email and messenger. Obviously the same can be done with the PS3. Both done via the mobile pages often used for cellphones. Quite handy! Also I'm sure the Flash updates have little to do with Microsoft... Apple after all is able to use it, can't imagine why Sony wouldn't. I could be wrong, but wouldn't this have to do more with Adobe/Macromedia updating their software with versions designed to work with the PS3/PSP? |

The Wii's Opera browser has the same issue. Over here the BBC have a Flash-based version of their iPlayer software that in theory would mean you could watch BBC programmes on the Wii, but it needs a newer version of Flash than the browser supports. For whatever reason the console-based browsers seem to need the whole browser to be updated rather than supporting simple plug-in updates.
