to be honest though the PS3 on all gig specs all play PS1 games, so you have no problems there. but the pS2 games, there will come a point where people will just stop playing them.

I understand that you (Ben and Farfus) play PS2 games still, and so do i... but 97% of PS3 gamers with a BC PS3 will turn completly to PS3 games by the end of the first year they have thier console.


so its not players like us that is trying to please now.

it was when they first ventured out with the PS3, but now the massive onslaught if people demanding a console so cheap that it makes a mockery of what it does and teh technology that it holds.. the people have won.

what makes me laugh is that i guess the public thought Sony were raking it in and that the PS3 was well over priced.. but if it really was over priced then they wouldnt of spent money in developing a cheaper machine, and the price to pay was BC.

its a shame, but im glad i got my 60gig! though i dont play much PS2 games now apart from 3 or so... im still glad i have it.

youre lucky you guys have the 80gig pS3's! we dont over here.. just 40 gig with no emu for now.

when the 60 sells out, thats it.. no more

I'd play more PS2 games if they played properly. FF minus the cutscenes makes me an angry chap.

I still haven't dared try Fire Warrior again for fear of it busting my machine on level 2.

I only ever played God of War 2 and PES 6 on my PS3.
Both worked fine.
I think the BC should definately be there as there are people who will use the PS3 to play PS1 and PS2 games as Ben has shown but it makes no difference to me if it was there or not.
I still have my PS2 anyways

No the 80Gb and Euro 60Gb, its recommend that you skip cut scenes and such to avoid crashes, but with each firmware update more and more titles work and it seems to have more stability overall, I never skip cut scenes and have no problems accept if I try to upscale to 1080i/p, for whatever reason PS1/2 games don't seem to like that.

Its still not as good as an actual PS2 but it does the job well enough in my experience, if it bothered me that much I'd go out and get a PS2 again, its not like there expensive now.

Oh wait, didn't Sony remove the graphics synthesizer chip even for the 60GB PS3 in Europe? Is that why this happens?

I never have to worry about anything like that with my 60GB; PS2 games play correctly on the PS3...cut-scenes and all.

I have the 80GB model and while I haven't had any issues regarding PS2 games, I have had problems with PSOne efforts.

Many of my games have the tendency to "freeze" and require a system reboot. It's been pretty frustrating considering the majority of PSOne titles I play are RPGs

your quite right, we got an emulator in ours but its not as bad as I expected, tho others may have had issues that I haven't come across, you guys in the U.S with a 60Gb have no worries, lucky swines lol
