UT3 new Mods and Maps thread.

ok.. so im probably talking to myelf here as i have no idea who has this and who doesnt.

so anyway, with the wealth of mods and maps already out for UT3 i thought i would start a thread up where we can discuss and ask questions about new mods and maps.. maybe even help each other out.

im no expert, but so far i have downloaded every mod and DM map out there, so if theres anything i can help with, just post and i'll help where i can.

i shall start this with my fav map, there are just so many new user maps, where do i start..?

i would say FLATWARS is possibly my favourite map at the moment. we've all played BEDROOM etc etc on HalfLife, SOF, Red Faction.. in fact any game where you could make up DM maps, someone has made their bedroom, lol.

FLATWARS is no different, its a sitting room and kitchenette. but its MASSIVE! reminds me of a lot of maps because of the open space, but i have never seen a map that you could be up sooo high and see lil tiny weeny people running around and to be able to get down to floor level and kick arse (or get kicked)... theres a lot of sniper rifles in this one, and its a well chosen wep for it, amazing sniper places.. some truely magic.

and theres even the Redeemer to contend with, tho a cheap shot but funny one at that.

one of the funny aspects of the map is the humour.. theres an 360 console showing the 360 logo on the massive LCD, which is funny.

tho might be close to the bone as most are saying UT3 maps and mods wont be coming to the 360 due to LIVE restrictions.. but anyways, its a great great map.

dont get me wrong.. theres loads of great user maps there, some are every bit as good as the official ones.

as for MODS (mutators).. i find myself using the new JETPACK mod a lot, as well as inf ammo when im playing bots, but unfortunatly you cannot drop the redeemer if you have that mod on.. so prepare to jump off something high when you get bored of nuking everything.

another mod that im very fond of is the GIBALICIOUS its fun. Just blows you up in bits more than before.. if thats possible!

lastly an interesting mod is the 3rd person mod.. Gears of war anyone?? i do like that view, but i like to stick to FPS...

I have yet to really start DLing stuff for UT3. Last several times I tried playing, my PS3 would kill the internet and I would have to turn the PS3 off to get the modem connected again. Since then, I've avoided multiplayer games on the PS3...

As for the downloadable maps and stuff, is there an easy way to really get all the available maps other than plundering through forums, going through every thread, one at a time, downloading the maps on the computer to install on the PS3? Obviously theres tons and tons of user created content, but a condensed source, or batch of maps would be nice.

here is a list (imo) of some of the best maps to grace UT3, these are either cooked from maps made for the PC or for the PS3..


these are all deathmatch maps, if you want CTF or the warfare maps go visit www.ut3mods.com thats where these links come from.

you could go through the epic forums like i do and grab the beta versions, but if youre in no rush then its one site.. and thats UT3MOD.com. there is no need imo to visit any other site. its PC and PS3 friendly, so there is no problems, even gives you a tutorial (http://www.ut3mod.com/2007/12/downlo...rectly-to.html) on how to put the maps on the ps3.

Harbor.. an amazing map i believe just made for the ps3, who ever made this is just way out there in terms of map making. i love this map.

Tiberium.. what can i say? its green, its fast it looks and plays fantastically well, certainly one to download.

Orbital Destruction.. this map is certainly different, in a "in space no one can hear you scream" kind of way. very cool map.

FlatWars.. my fav map of all. this is bloody great fun. ever since time begun and people have been making maps for online gaming, someone has ALWAYS mad a maps of their bedroom or kitchen, well someone has made one of their bedsit! you can get bedroom and bathroom maps on ut3mod.com, but for now i give you FlatWars!

LEGO.. now this map is FULL OF BUGS! its probably not even a beta map, all it was made for is to show destructible scenery, and its lots and lots of fun!!

If anyone wants to play with or against me add me to your PS3 or UT3 friend list.

If you have an external hdd or a memory stick, you can download UT mods directly from the site mentioned above, and this new patch have made it a lot easier. Before this patch you needed to create a specific path of folders on your memory stick/external hdd to be able to install your imported mods in UT3.

Now you can put them on the "root" of your memory/hdd.

basically it turns ANY map in to a DM map... and wow, talk about incredible battles or what!!

I hate WareFare, i hate having to do things when all i want to do is frag the hell out of each other.. i just want to run and shoot, and now you can fly, kill, drive and mame with this new mutator.

these Warfare maps are HUGE! but play with a full quota of 16 (bods or bots) in a Deathmatch you will find yourself in the middle of an incredible battle.

as you can tell, im really stoked about this mod, because ever since i saw vids of UT3, it showed you a mass war going on.. people flying and driving and fraggin the shite out of each other, then when i got the game it was Warfare only, only a few maps which had a vehicle or two were DM maps.

but now to be able to have access to most of UT3's vehicles in a DM map is brilliant. plus theres some amazing User made Warfare maps you can use and some very cool new vehicle to get too, via UT3mod.com

I don't know if it is new, but they have added had a Cloud and Zack mod there. So if you want to bring FFVII goodness in to UT3 this would be the thing for you.

Does anyone know if everyone sees the new skin or is it just you? Im a big bunny from the biker mice from mars, yet wen i played my mates the other day, to them i looked normal. Maybe they need to download the skin too?
