Default anyone playing UT3 now or in the future?

im getting this very soon, should had it by now but due to Ebay Fkwits. it should be here in a few days..

but i havent really noticed anyone one here playing it.

im a little surprised seeing how amazing the game looks, and reviews alone make it seem like gods own..

yet no one seems to play it.

theres some good looking maps out now, it would be good if there was a thread that kinda went through new UT3 mod stuff, but im wondering if anyone will ever visit it

I rented it a few weeks back, and yes, it's amazing.

I am somewhat disappointed with the lack of modes compared to the previous PC incarnations. (No assault, bombing run, and the new Onslaught mode is a little more complicated than it should be)

However, that's just nitpicking. It's defiantly the the best FPS experience on consoles at the moment in my opinion. (I just like this variation of genre better)

sounds very good.. you reckon you'll buy it at some point?

i think the extra modes will come with updates, theres plans i think for offline split screen matches ...personally unless they have bots, im not that interested. but if they can put that in, then they can certainly put in all the other modes you mentioned.

ive been keeping my eye on the recent maps being made for UT3 for the PS3, and i have to say that im really really impressed. i remember my mates making maps for Halflife and RedFaction... lol... good times.

I hope with the new mod creator that its simple to use!

I only got the PC version right now, I will get PS3 version soon. I haven't gotten myself into the mod editor yet, just opened it to see how it was. Looks pretty much like professional tool.

I am not into so many FPS games, but the Unreal Tournament series I just love to death, because of its fast paced shooting style and not really any big story behind, just headshot this and headshot that.

BOOM Headshot!

i do love that sort of thing, i used to play Quake and UT on the PS2, never played it on the PC.. but it was faster than normal FPS's on the PS2 thats for sure..

i do like a good reaction shooter, my fav map on CoD4 is shipment with shotguns, its just fast and fun, no thought (not much) ..just fire if something moves.

so you get the mod creator with the PC game then? because ive seen this site for the PS3 mods..

http://www.ut3mod.com/

im sure theres are other sites out there, but this one looks good, and seems like its a ps3 download friendly site.

imo this is the future for fps's. i know that certain genre of games like Cod or MoH etc.. will always need to be built by the creators as they will have the time and the know how to make these maps incredible

But look at RFOM! i mean, i do love the new maps, and i will always buy them as long as i play that game, but from what i have heard, these maps that people are making for UT3 on the PS3 are as good.

i cant comment as i havent played them, and i probably wont play the modded maps until i know what im doing. but its certainly good news that people are churning out good stuff rather than rubbish in these early few months.

ps.. last time i played Unreal T.. there was a circular disk-saw type of gun... is it still in the game? i havent seen it in previews, but i was my favourite back in the day.

I read that the legendary "Facing Worlds" has been re-made for UT3, that is one of the maps I have played the most from the first UT and UT2004.

I will try to download it soon.

cool... im hoping that some bright spark will do the same for other maps of UT3, basically import a 'good' version of some famous maps from other games.

you will need to post back and let us know how faithful Facing Worlds is!

ok, so i have been playing UT3 for a while now, and i must say.. its pretty bloody good.
first five mins im like "cod looks nicer" and.. "cods more in your face" ..."this aint cod"

ten mins down the line im .."wow.. that was cool" and "whoa.. nice"

now after three hours im totally sold on this. graphically its amazing, but its not instant joy like Cod4 is. this one creeps up on ya and screams down your neck.. but only after about ten or so mins in to the game do you get that feeling (imo).

as somneone who lives in the UK, online Ping isnt that bad.. worst is about 600.. most games are in the 2/300 mark.. but i tend to play around the games under 200, its best.

but come the 22nd of Feb when Europe gets it.. there should be some low pingers! but for now its totally fine.

about half an hour ago i got my first set of mods i joined this game that had a load of mods on the hoverboard and jumping etc etc.. so it downloaded those automatically. Maps on the other hand, when you go to join a game that has a map that you dont have, it doesnt download it there and then like in SOF.
But thats ok, its just a quick quit, on to the web browser.. www.ut3mod.com and get the map.. back in to game, upload it and away you go. i can imagine this is something that Mr Unreal and his boys may fix in a future patch.. also being able to download more than one mod at time would be nice.

but we're still very much in the birth of mods on the ps3, so i can forgive.

all in all.... wow. thats all i can say.

ps.. anyone here got Downpour DM map yet? lol.. very cool map!
