Can't quite decide on whether to purchase a PS3, or save up the extra greenery for a computer capable of gratifying me with acts of insomnia.

Yes Yes, mostly. With RFOM, Motorstorm, Assassins Creed, Heavenly Sword, COD4 and a selection of others out now and GT5, GTA, Home, and RFOM2 due out in the future the PS3 is a top system to buy. Unless you are the sort of person who has to buy 5 or 6 top scoring titles a month, the PS3 offers you what you need. Saying that, The other consoles would suffer the same problem. The only downside I can think of would be the shoddy ports but you can steer clear of those. Also, even if you can only have PC or PS3 running at any one time you can still surf your favourite gaming forum ![]()

In all honesty, I can't see any reason to spend a truckload of money upgrading a PC right now. It's the fastest declining gaming platform out there, IMO. I guess if you only enjoy RTS, FPS and online games, it's the platform for you, but you miss out on SO much.
With all the games already out and coming out for the PS3, I really can't see a reason why you should pass on a purchase. Just check out the library of current and upcoming games and make sure there are enough to appeal to your own tastes...I imagine you'll find plenty.

Yes Yes, but you need HDTV to see the graphics If you're looking for gaming and some media features, PS3 is better value than a new PC. I don't think you're going to get much of a gaming experience unless you're ready to spend $1,500+ for a PC and monitor.

I only have a 360 connected to an HDTV over component cables (rather than HDMI, which is supposed to be better) but games do look lovely in HD, so if you have an HDTV I don't imagine you'll have any complaints over the PS3's graphics. As others have said you would need to hand over a lot of cash for a PC that could give comparable graphics and you'd still miss out on a lot of the console-specific genres that PCs don't really support, and would have to go through the fuss of driver updates, DRM-shackles and the like.
Hell, if I had the cash to lay down on a high-spec PC (the kind that could run Crysis in its full, non-Vista glory) I'd probably plump for a PS3 and 360 instead.
