It depends on which model you have.
The 60GB model plays both PS1 and PS2 games, yes. It's about a 99% backwards compatibility for both. PS1 games work on both the 80GB and 40GB models, but only the 80GB will play SOME PS2 games; it uses software emulation for PS2 b/c. The 40GB doesn't play any PS2 games, only PS1 games.

I have an 80GB model, and so far it's played every PS2 title I've put in it with no issues.
(Granted I've only got a few "major" titles still left in my library.) |

The only model that is almost entirely b/c for PS2 games is the 60GB.

I am brand new to the board and the world of video games as I am an old retired steelworker. My main question of today is, we bought the NHRA game to play on our new PS3 80 and got some message on the screen as to go to a web site as this PS2 game wont work on PS380? Thanks Shipper |

what game was that?
there is a site.. its http://faq.eu.playstation.com/bc/bcGames.htm its only as good as firmware 1.80 (i think).. they need to update it as theers some games here that work but they say they dont and visa versa. but I think the 80gig plays PS2 games, i know the 40gig version doesnt. but yeh, what is NHRA? is it a hockey game? im fron the UK.. not really up with the terms for these sport games. but theres a fair few game sthat dont work, but saying that.. they make new ones available with every FW update, so not a bad thing.

The NHRA stands for the National Hot Rod Assocation which is the main drag racing club if you will in the states. Where cars and motorcyles go as fast as they can in a 1/4 mile.
Names like John Force and others are the main names of todays drag racing world. Thanks Shipper ![]() The name of the game is NHRA drag racing countdown to the championship copied from the front cover of the instruction manual. Last edited by shipper50 : 12-04-2007 at 07:57 AM.
