DK won't be happy. On top of that UT3 has been delayed too.

Further details on the PSXE news page.

yeh, i must recommend CoD for such a time... but look at it this way, HL2 'could' be the the better version, same goes with UT3.

anyone know the State release date for these two?

re-god-damn-diculos, Im never going to get to play HL2 at this rate, but I suppose after all this time it should work really well.

http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3164539

"In an interviewearlier this year, Valve Software founder Gabe Newell referred to PlayStation 3 as "a waste of everybody's time." This attitude shows in the development structure of The Orange Box. While the PC and Xbox 360 versions were handled by Valve, the PS3 port was handed off to an internal team at EA. Originally scheduled to be released day and date with the PC and 360 versions, the PS3 Orange Box has been delayed until December. PS3 owners, forced to watch from the sidelines as their gaming kindred inundates them with tales of Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2 and Portal, continue to wait patiently for their chance to take a stroll through Valve's universe.

After spending a significant amount of time with a near final version of the PS3 game, it's apparent that this version suffers from a number of technical flaws, which at best merely hinder game play and at worst make the experience downright unplayable. Framerate is a consistent issue throughout the Half-Life series of games included in The Orange Box. One moment you'll be cruising through the game at 30 frames per second and the next you'll be enjoying a slideshow of series protagonist Gordon Freeman cruising down the river. However, Portal suffers from no such technical hiccups and is on its way to being a pitch-perfect port of the spatial reasoning exercise. Due to a server connection issue, we were unable to get any time with Team Fortress 2. With the clock ticking, EA has a limited amount of time to fix the glaring issues which plague this port of The Orange Box. Unfortunately, it seems that, once again, PlayStation 3 owners are doomed to suffer through another substandard version of a multiplatform game."

now, its not like i trust 1-up.. i dont. everything is with a pinch of salt..

but why would you want to destroy a game via a preview unless it wasnt true? but then why would you show your game off to a site knowing it was rubbish?

Valve..EA.. i feel that this is indeed goodbye.

if this is all true and OB is a shambles then i really do feel that the gigs up with most sensible PS3 owners.

looks like UT3 has taken place in the must have FPS's on my list.

such a shame, really is. i kinda hope someone buys me Orange box for Xmas, lol.. i really do want it, but i refuse to spend money on a game from EA where they could of done better. i know its Valve, but EA and Valve are suffereing from the same anal probe where the PS3 dev is concerned.

It's odd. Obviously as a PC developer it wouldn't have been much of a leap for Valve to adapt it for the 360's PC-friendly architecture, but with the PS3 being very different it could have taken them a year or more to get to grips with how it works, and even longer to optimise Orange Box and get it running well. It makes sense then to get another team with PS3 experience to do it on their behalf but this suggests EA messed it up big time. The PS3 deserves better.

if OB turns out as bad as they make out, thats it, NO MORE EA games, not even Army Of Two, Ive had enought of thier crap, why the hell can't they get a 2 to 3 year old game to run at 30fps on a machine thats more capable than the one it was originally created, I swear thier retared

with all the games that are NOT EA coming out in the next few years.. the only game i can think of is Burnout that i would want, and to be honest, i really can live without it. i was upset with Dominator.. the crash mode is what and why the game was made, that really hacked me off when they took it out.

i know that its back in a different way this time, and unless i can be convinced that the power of the ps3 has been harnessed, im not touching it with a bargepole.

apart from that, im not going near anything EA.. from what i hear about MOH: AB for the PS3, again the PS3 has indeed been shafted!

phew!

back on my list then, until i read more previews/reviews...

at least this one seems more honest, which is a strange things for IGN but reading the way its written, it actually seems like this guy has played it, compared to 1-up where once again seems like he's talking to a mate who played it ages ago..

Hopefully Ben or AK will review this before Friday the 14th...!!!!

i've been following the whole Orange Box port since 1UP posted their preview as well, and while IGN had a much more comforting take on the near-final build, there was still one quote that bothered me:

Quote:
Unless you require your games to never dip below 30fps, you should not strike The Orange Box off your PS3 holiday wish list.
Cuz, y'know, for paying $500+ dollars for a system with tons of processing power behind it, I SHOULDN'T possibly expect for these new games to run at a constant frame rate (30 or 60: i don't care as long as it runs smooth) - no that would be asking too much...

Still quite ridiculous on EA's part.
