Default GTA5... a PS3 Exclusive??

i say GTA5.. but the next GTA ie: 7th game in the series (not inc handhelds).

this is old news on the internet, but hasnt been reported here, probably because nothing is official yet.

check out this link, and also the Official Xbox mag for details.

http://www.sonydefenseforce.com/?p=283

what makes me laugh is 'if' that is this true and its down to limitations of the 360, it does make me wonder what the real reason for the delay on GT4 is. the Xbots claim that its all down to the PS3, but i wonder.
i wonder if its actually the space on the disks and HDD needed to run the game.
people who have seen GTA4 in motion claim that its choppy, yet nothing of the PS3 version has been seen. what could that mean?

also, what did come out of this whole 'sony taking R* under its wing' is this news (ie: GTA5) the result of covering R* with a Sony wing?

so with L.A Noir a PS3 exclusive mainly down to Hardware, the apparent GTA5 exclusive and the delay of GTA4... is this a sign of things to come?

will MS go Blue Ray? can they go Blue Ray? surely Sony dont own BRD or any stakes in it? so i would of thought that Microsoft should just bung a quality HDD in the 360 and start using BRD.

PS: sorry for such a Sony Fanboy link, it was just the news and Xbox mag info that i wanted to show.

Well Ive been talking about this sort of thing for some time now, hell I even got banned talking about it, everything I said seems to be coming true but way faster than I ever thought. A few months back in a phone call with gabe I said that I can see the next GTA being PS3 and PC only title, so this wouldn't surprise me at all.

Microsoft are unlikely to include a Blu-Ray player. Even if they haven't officially declared themselves in favour of HD-DVD they are very much leaning in that direction. It remains to be seen whether the HD-DVD addon for the console will ever have the installed user base for a game to launch on that format, but I suppose it could be a possibility if the technology decreases in price or even if they were to go with a version of the console with the player built in.

Ultimately though what the 360 does have is the most units sold. If I was looking to launch a console-exclusive on PS3 I'd be keeping an eye both on the amount of consoles sold and on how well big name exclusives like MGS4 or FFXIII sold on the system, then contrast that with the number of combined units of GTA4 shifted across both systems. Then factor in any financial incentives being offered, of course.

Microsoft could solve this by:

Hacking the harddrive price.
Ship new machines with in built HD-DVD.
For existing machines release the HD-DVD and start making games for it rather than just having it for movies.

Alright, all the above may piss off a few of the existing owners BUT I'm sure they'll swallow the hassle and cost if it means we can still get the big new popular titles in all their glory. Non-harddrive users is possibly the first hurdle Microsoft have to overcome if they want to keep up with Sony.

would say R* have to work differently to HD-DVD than to Blue Ray?

could it be as easy for MS to switch to HD-DVD?

one problem though, and that is ...IF BRD wins this so called media format war, like VHS won over BM, that could be a very bad move for MS.

so should they bite the bullet and just go with BRD?

or is that too much like conceding defeat in the eyes of the Enemy for them?
I know that sounds stupid, but hell, computer companies are no better than kids in the playground when it comes to Exclusives and consoles.

Blu-Ray is still a scary concept for me.

Beta max and UMD are two Sony developed and supported formats, and both considered failures.

I'm not saying this is the case for Blu-Ray, it's just a little too early to tell.

BRD has already sold more, being stocked more and being brought more than HD-DVD.
Most major film companies and distributors are backing BRD, Playboy, Sony and Disney to name three.

imo, it would have to have some major flaws discovered in order for HD-DVD to even try to match the sales.

as far as im concerned UMD works really well, and even though some say its doomed, i seriously doubt it.

Are you seriously using Sony Defense Force as a source? This site is a joke (aka - people pretending to be sony zealots).

And Koth, please stop pretending that you were banned for that.

no, i hate that site... i did apologise for using the link. but it did highlight the issue number of the official xbox magazine, which the article came from.

as far as i can tell its true, even though its on that hideous site.

obviously if its not in oxm then i cant apologise more, but this 'news' has been reported on xbox sites as well as playstation ones.

BR as a movie medium may ultimately fail but as a games medium it's great. HD-DVD could work in the same way.
