eventually even if BRD works and everyone uses it, it will be taken over by something else..
so i guess what ever works at the moment and BRD seems to work quite well, lol.

It was a few months ago, but the last article I read from Nielsen listed that movie sales were pretty close to a 1:1 ratio, with Blu-Ray clinging on to a slight lead.
However, the ratio is 5:1 in terms of Blu-Ray players over HD-DVD players in consumers homes (Mainly due to the launch of a PS3) |

I thought I remembered seeing somewhere that BR discs are outselling HD-DVD by at least 2:1.

Like I said, that article is a few months old and that may very well be the case.
The point I was aiming for is that there are at least five times as many Blu-Ray players in consumers homes than that of HD-DVD players. Mostly due to the PS3 of course. Making the sales numbers still very comparable and competitive, all things considered. |

Last I heard (obviously these figures change all the time) there were more Blu-Ray players about because of the PS3, but it meant that Blu-Ray had a lower movies per player ratio, simply because anybody who bought an HD-DVD player bought it for HD-DVD movies and would therefore have bought several, whereas a lot of people bought a PS3 for games and are happy to wait for this whole silly format war to die before committing to it for their movie collection.
Rather long sentence aside, I think that if anything the PS3 helped make the figures more misleading (with both sides being able to claim specific victories) rather than help declare a clear winner. EDIT - Shortly after posting this I stumbled across a Guardian article with some info that kind of matches what I was saying: Quote:

The forum went down earlier and a few posts were lost in what looks like a rollback. I've had to repost two instant classics that would otherwise have forever been denied viewing by the world at large.

I appear to be having problems posting but I'll keep trying.
I think there is major bias in the author of that article when he makes comments such as "But while they might leap on a film that most closely resembles a game anyway .... they're less likely to stump up the cash for softer titles that don't involve gore and bluescreen animation." Either he has something against gamers in their entirety or just PS3 owners. What he fails to realise is that now I've bought a PS3 (primarily for gaming) when I buy a HD TV I'm going to start buying HD movies. Now, am I going to pay out again for a HD-DVD player to play HD-DVD movies or am I instead going to just buy Blu-Ray movies for the player I already have? Not really a rocket science question is it?

I was trying to find the article on www.hdtvorg.co.uk but I can't find it now but I read on there at least 3 months ago that it was nearly 3:1 in favour of Blu-Ray movies sold to HD-DVD.
