I'm glad to report that a mate of mine who owns his own independant game store has told me that HS sold out fast. Were I live the towns primary stores are Game, Gamestation (now owned by Game) and Gamestop. My mates store is only a few hundred yards from all 3. The majority of shoppers for games will visit the major 3 stores and for the ones looking for HS, they would visit these main 3 and not my mates store as they have no knowledge of its existence. So if HS sold out in my mates store, there's a possibility its the same for the other 3.

Despite IGN's biased reviews (which I always add 1 extra point to their score because they would hve done if it was a 360 game) HS has received very promissing reviews and high score making HS a killer app for the PS3.
Forget the gameplay length, if Gears can be a killer app on 360 with 6-8 hours of gameplay, HS can be a killer app on PS3.

i really dont rate IGN's reviews any more, way too biased in every way.

its like if a game comes out on the 360 in march they will give it a 9, if the same game but with improvments comes out on july they will give it 8.5.. and if its a exc PS game, they seem to just give it a bad review all together.

and is Gamestation still going to be called that or is it going to be called GAME from now on? plus Gme in the UK.. isnt that owned by the same company as EB in the states? because Game used to be EB in the UK.. if so.. where does Blockbuster come in to this? as Gamestation was brought out by Blockbuster years ago.. so EB own Blockbuster in the states too?

anyway, for me it was either HS or Dirt, and Dirt is brilliant, so no complaints there, but i think i will pick up HS soon, everyone is raving on about it! looks really cool... is teher any roaming at all or is it straight action?

Glad to hear bamf. I'm getting confused as to who owns who now.

I'll be popping round to see DK soon and checking out Heavenly Sword. I may even try and wrangle a loan if he's giving it a break for a while before replaying.

How are those even comparable? Gears was a killer app because its awesome multiplayer (especially online) gave it basically unlimited replay value. HS doesn't have anything similar.

And lol @ the conspiracy theroy about IGN being out to get the poor PS3.

You also have no reason to go back through the single-player campaign in GeoW, and you do in HS (to unlock more bonus content via Glyphs). If you wanted to do that in HS, it would take much longer. And not everyone considers online play an automatic bonus that should inflate a review score. Gears of War is undoubtedly one of the best games of the generation, and yes, better than HS. I don't think that's debatable. But HS is also a must-play for other reasons.

As for IGN, I don't necessarily believe they have an anti-PS3 agenda (I find that's more prevalent at GameSpot), but I DO know their Heavenly Sword review was trash. Plain and simple.

I didn't mean just online. Being able to play multiplayer with a bunch of friends in the same room also adds a lot replay value (that's actually where must of my experience with the game comes), and makes it easier to forgive the short single player mode. The single player campaign is very good (quite a bit better than HS, which also factors into the scores it got), but judging it solely on that is really missing what made the game great.

As for HS being a "must play" and the IGN review being trash, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. Like I've said, I thought the game was just okay, and agreed almost entirely with the IGN review.

Even if you do agree with the review, the score made no sense. How exactly does an overall score of 7 reflect categorical scoring of 4 9s and 1 7? All that's saying is that absolutely nothing about the game matters except the gameplay, which is a crucial flaw.

The final score is a joke, whether you agree with it or not.

You forgot the 5 they gave it for "lasting appeal". I also think it's perfectly resonable to weight gameplay more than stuff like graphics and sound; it's far more important in regards to the overall experience.

Debatable. Gameplay is always the most important, but these days, it's also about the overall package. With the sheer amount of effort Ninja Theory put into the visuals, voice acting, animations, sound, and just about every other technical facet of a video game, that ALONE is worth far more than a 7.

That's just the way it is.

Why are you acting like your method for judging a game's merit is the end all and be all? That's not "just the way it is." Maybe for you, but I don't agree at all. If all I wanted was great visuals, acting, and sound, I'd just watch a movie. With a game I care the most about actually playing the game. That's the most important thing, and that, in my opinion, should be weighted when scoring the game. That's not to say the other stuff isn't important to the overall package, it just isn't nearly as important. If a game doesn't play well, then, to me, it's not worth playing, no matter how hard the development crew worked on the other stuff.
