What do you think is best? What’s the pro’s and cons of it all?

I would say download… as then you don’t have to stick in a disk every time you want to play, it will run faster off the HDD and that downloads like patches/map packs will download smother and should be easier to install…


But I really dont know…

What do you all think?

I'm getting the retail copy primarily for the headset. I don't have one, and no matter which way I slice it, it would cost more for me to get the download and a headset separate.

I'm not too worried about loading times, and I suppose I like the idea of the extra content on the disc (although it's not crucial to me). And besides, I got it paid off thanks to birthday money.

yeh, me too! if the extra content was just 'making of' ..then i would do the download.. but it does depend on how big the game file will be!!

any idea how big a game like this will be in terms of Gig's?

Nope but any size is too big. I'm already down to 33gb and it only takes a handful of demoes and a few 2-3 gig game downloads before you run out.

I don't fancy the idea of thinking "ah, I want to play Warhawk. Let me sit here and wait for 4 hours while it redownloads as I had to delete it for the hd space."

I'd love them to make a way for you to copy your dl games to disc, even if it was coded in such a way that it could only be played on the PS3 which downloaded it.

but it would be interesting how big it will be, if they expect you to download it.

i take it that you can download full games from LIVE? how big are they?

No full games. Just live arcade games. The add-ons for gears and graw run some what at 900mb more or less. FFXI is a beast, about 16gb now and the new expansion in October will run 4gb +. Since we get 0 movies/tv shows in Canada the HD is empty lol but FFXI is taking the space huge. Bioshock demo was a 1.3gb download also...

dillon: I'm not sure what the extra content is, but I imagine it's nothing too groundbreaking. Really, I'm just getting the Blu-Ray for the headset.

As for the size...well, I don't see any reason to keep trailers and demos on my PS3 for very long, so I doubt I'll ever have a problem with space.

The extra content is reckoned to be "making of" and such like. Im getting the hard copy, you can run out of HDD space so quickly these days Im going to save it any time I can, updates seem to work smooth enough between BD Rom and HDD on R:FOM and even if I had it on HDD I'd probably still have to wait for other people's game to load from BD Rom before the game starts so that sort of thing doesn't bother me
