Rainbow 6.... Las Vegas!

has anyone picked this up??

got it today, and well.. after all the 360 fanboy rubbish ive been subjected to over the last three months, im glad to say that they are wrong in every sense of the word.

its such a tight game, and very challenging.. graphics are top notch too..

though what makes me laugh is the whole 1080i Vs 720p.. and that 720p is incredible compared to 1080i.. haha.. almost liek its not actual 1080i and its upscalled from 720p.

still i will be waiting AK's and Ben review of it.. i hope they like it as i think it superb.

and if anyone here has it, what do you think?

Is it not a crappy port? You mean they've actually put effort into utilising the PS3 and made it a game worth owning? Flippin' Nora! I need to go and sit down for a bit.

lol, they really realy did.

Ubisoft is the PS3's friend! apparently Graw2 has effort in it too...

seriously though, its hard, and im crap.. so imagine its really difficult, but you learn, and you learn the hard way. one shot to the head, its all over! and thats not even in 'Realistic' mode

Superb in every sense. everyone who is fair says that the graphics are as the 360's are... gameplay is the same but with extra maps but the 360 fanboys say its not and its rubbish, lol. online is smooth and lots of fun! but i prefer single play offline at the moment.

but its great, and a very very decent port.

tho, you didnt mention the resolution and playing in 720p rather than 1080i...

did you just play in 720 and not change it? or do you think that 1080 is a better visual? many say not, and on the whole i agree.. but every now and again i do play on 1080i because of just playing another game like Sigma and i forget to change it
Playing the main game in 1080, i dont think is 'that bad' and could and can look quite nice in a smoothed out blurred way.. what i find unforgivable is the menus, and how bad they look in 1080i.
if the menus looked sharp then I wonder if people would really care?

anyway, apparently theres a patch on the way to fix this, but im doubting that. its a top game and no matter what res you play it, its always going to be a great great game..

Thanks. But no, I didn't change it from 720p. The TV I played it on can't go beyond 720, unfortunately.

i dont know why it changes so much like that. i think it upscales to 1080i, but still.. i try an just keep my tv on 720 now, as lets face it... ive nver been able to really tell the difference between 720 and 1080 anyway!

I'm not sure if you had known but the Red and Black packs are free for 360 now. They used to be 800 points (around $10 I think as your review says) but the way I understand it from a friend is that they decided to make it free because they included it in the PS3 version, and also according to him they gave a refund for the points, which I can't verify because I downloaded them after it became free and I haven't personally read any articles on the subject.

It would be interesting to see a comparison between the two, maybe a short blurb about controls, graphics, etc.

On the subject of TVs though, my TV is an odd number, or an old one, a 53 inch Sony projection TV. It supports 480i, 480p, and 1080i, but none of the 720s. Not really a big issue for me but oh well. Supposedly it came out soon after the HD TVs hit the scene, but I don't know, I just got it from an aunt who didn't have the room to keep it.

Interesting point, and one I didn't know. I knew the packs did cost $10, because I had friends who bought them on Live. But I didn't know MS made them free since the release of the PS3 version.

However, because we haven't verified if MS really is refunding the money, I can't include that. But I have updated the review with this new information. Thanks.

As for a comparison, I played the 360 version briefly, and like most games designed to be multiplatform these days, the two versions are virtually identical. Most reviews I've seen say the same thing; I wouldn't have much of anything to say in a direct comparison.

do you think there will be more maps for the PS3 version any time soon? the only really decent 'extras' on the PSN is if you own Genji or Ridge Racer.

so will be nice to have downloadable stuff for decent games.. not that Genji and RR arent, its just that if you look at the other great games out for the PS3, i would of though that someone would of started doing content on them by now!
