Wow, I don't know how I missed this. I have Warhawk, UC2, R2, GTAIV, Burnout Paradise, Red Faction Guerilla, and Buzz! Quiz TV. I really only play Warhawk and UC2.
So, would you guys post when you're going to play on the forums? For example, if you wanted to get a Warhawk game goin, just post up something like this: "On Sunday @ 8 PM EST we're playing Warhawk, the server name will be PSXEROCKS, password is DUTKA, see you there." Or is this more of a way to find out who plays what and just connect with them on PSN? |

For the most part, what we do is just add people from PSX to our PSN friends list. When you hop online, if you see them on there...send them a message..ask if their up for a game and away we go.. Sometimes it works out that we've got enough of us on to almost make a team effort at it. Although not much has happened since FrostFace left. But don't let him know, it will make him feel important or something... ![]() |

I have Battlefield Bad Company 2 currently shipping to my house. If anyone want to hook up, feel free to add me on my main account (which I will be playing the game on). ID is same as my username here - daus26
For GT5, I'll be playing online with my team ID everytime. ID for that is LR-SWD-daus26. |

So after having started this thread and having played online with a few of you and generally having some good laughs and fun online I began to realize a few things.
I thought maybe I would share them with you and maybe get your thoughts on some of this. First thing that I noticed, that although we started out with a pretty strong following of PSXers, playing mostly Socom and Burnout, I've noticed that our numbers have dwindled. So much so that I found myself in a Socom match last night with a group of guys who were recruited onto the PSX Socom clan, who don't frequent the site all that much if at all. And though they are a good group to play with, the point of starting the was to kind of play with the good group of people that we conversed with everyday with on PSX who were responsible for helping build the PSX community. Then I started thinking how this thread had been started in order to play any online game, I thought maybe I should brush up my skills a bit on the other games I own. Not that you would judge, but it's a personal thing that I feel if I started a thread like this I should at least be able to know which way to point the gun while I play. So I slid KZ2 into the PS3 and began to play some online play. Though I had fun, there was something missing, so after about an hour or so, I took out KZ and threw in some Resistance 2. I had a blast in the Coop mode, but when I switched over to competitive mode I was suddenly not as interested anymore. Again, something was missing. After sliding in Warhawk, I realized what it was. SOCOM has ruined me. See, when I played Killzone and Resistance the things that bothered was the lack of challenge. Don't get me wrong, it's tough staying alive for a whole game without getting taken out, but it your not really doing anything strategically. It's just shooting a gun and hoping you make it. And sure Socom has the same thing in their unranked respawn rooms, but I've been mostly playing the ranked games. And there is no respawning in ranked rooms in SOCOM. I find when I get into a good match of SOCOM, it almost feels like there actually is something on the line. You feel bad if you're the first man to die, you hate being the last man standing, because you don't want to let down your team. And I don't think I've ever had a game that would make your heart race and make your start sweating so much as realizing that the rest of your team is dead and you have four guys somewhere on the map gunning for you. Or the chill you get in your spine when everything is too quiet. You start waiting for a bullet to come from somewhere and take you out. With Killzone and Resistance I just found it was running and gunning, no thinking..just grunt work. With Socom, you work as a team, you communicate, and you hopefully learn enough to stay alive. Same as doing the challenges in Burnout. You work together as a team to get them finished and when you do get them, there's a sense of accomplishment. And that for me is what makes those games greater then, shoot, die, respawn, rinse, lather, repeat. Another thing the I don't like about respawn is some guys just camp the spawn, so you can't get out. You die, respawn, die, respawn, die, respawn and hope you get to take a step before dying again. That being said, if any of you are still wanting to play online as a team, count me in...I want to keep building the PSX community and gaming group. I always smile when I sign into a game and see someone from PSX on there ready to play. So what do you guys think? Am I being to critical of the general community of online gaming? I know some of you were not big fans of Socom, here's a chance for you to voice your opinion on what you look for in an online game. Are you a run n' gunner? Or are you looking for something a little more in depth. What online game do you play that after a session of it, you feel like you've had a workout because your sweaty and your hearts thumping and your wide awake and wired at 4 in the morning without the help of coffee? Those are the games I want to play. |

If you've got: Pure Skate 2 Shaun White snowboarding Let me know, I haven't played them much yet, but it would be fun to hop online and cruise around with some people. |
