Default When Games pissed me the hell off.

It happened, I got bored with super mario bros. It happened, flying medusa heads that only came when i need to jump in Castlevania pissed me off enough to quit playing for awhile. It happened, Bald Bull f*cked me up even though I knew his weakness from Nintendo Power. So what the hell did we all do in between pissed off sessions of being a kid? As you may know from my Intro I live in a place where it is not good for your health to go out during winter and I got cooped up for a few months at a time so I hadda do SOMETHING. Here's my off the top of my head list for when the exclusives weren't all gravy:

Put the cat in the Castle Grayskull
Choke my older brother for teasing me
Make epic battles happen with Legos
Drink too much Coca Cola
Avoid homework
Draw pictures
Sabotage people

Yeah, I was a terror, but I contribute now.

What's your list?

I lived in the south-east of England as a kid, so when getting pissed off at Tekken 2, or the final boss on Sonic 3, I would tend to play outside.

Draw pictures on the path with coloured chalk
Play swingball with my brother
Throw conkers at birds in trees
Push my younger brother over, then run away when he got angry and chased me.
Climb the apple tree in the garden
Play pooh sticks down at the river.

I don't know about you, but games being difficult only made me want to play them more. Though it didn't help that I could only play games like Mario if and when we ever went to Sears (which had an NES set up for people to play). When you only had 10 minutes to play a game every few weeks, you'd better get good at it quick!

I was nothing like that though. My outlets were less... destructive. When I was bored of playing video games, I liked to program little useless things on my Commodore 64 computer or play role playing games (often with myself, siblings never wanted to play and no friends nearby :P).

Though in the winter, we seemed to get more snow back then. We used to build pretty epic forts (at least in memory) with walls higher than you could see over, windows, doors, etc. Of course, all that shoveling and then the next day it would either snow again or warm up and destroy it all.

Oh man I forgot about the forts, I could tunnel like a freakin eskimo. Some of my best forts might've withstood a bullet! I even finished the outside in ice. lol @ Robinhood's list.

When I got bored/frustrated with my Nintendo games, I'd do some of the following:

Play drums (still do that)
Go to the neighbor's and see what the kid next door was doing
Watch TV
Ride my bike
Winter time - snow forts! and sledding of course
Legos and even K'nex (for a short time)
Use the pitch return outside (I played baseball)
or I would just put in another game - I had a whole 14 games to choose from!lol

Oh and we didn't own a computer until I was about 13 years old, and even when we did get a computer I didn't know enough to understand if a game would work in our computer or not...

I didn't play many old school Nintendo games, it was slightly before my time, but whenever a game challenges me I get really stubborn and determined to beat it. If I still can't take it I have this habit of not playing it anymore for a long time. I tend to have a problem finishing what I start sometimes.

Otherwise...
Watch TV
Play some Hockey
Play a different game
Hang out with friends

Didn't do much else as a kid. Dallas during the summer means 90 degrees minimum, so outside wasn't an option a lot of the time.

Game Genie solved my problems of getting pissed.
But I remember playing Eathworm Jim and I was completly unable to calculate the jumps and smashed my Sega after like an hour of trying on the first level I still for some reason think that was a good game.
It took me hours to convince my parents that the Sega broke by falling so I could get a new.

I remember I got so mad at Mortal Kombat Trilogy that I pulled it out of my N64 and snapped it in half lol. But For Nintendo when I was a Kid I would get pissed off at Little Nemo the Dream Master after I kept getting killed by that penguin near the end, I'd go outside and start blasting a tennis ball against the side of the Barn with a hockey stick.
other stuff I'd do was Build Snow Forts (Niagara-on-the-lake=deeeep snow), Brush my horse, which really seemed to calm me down, legos, READ ALOT, wrestle with my foster brothers(Macho Elbow off the Couch!!) or play with my chemistry set, *Grins Evily*(I was only 7)

How about putting a game into the NES and getting a Yellow and Green screen, Pulling the game out blowing into the cartridge putting it back in, Yellow an Red screen etc. That S**T used to piss me the hell of sometimes 10 time for a game only to have it freeze on me at a critical point. My friend could make the game sound like a whistle when he blew into them.
