I tried playing Jumping Flash remembering the days when I thought it was great. omg.

I should have left well alone as it was much better remembering it than replaying it. The more recent consoles just don't produce games which survive well yet going back another 5 years or so it seems ok and I think that is, as you say, down to them being so much more basic that they don't look dated, they look classic.
