Final Fantasy 9 and Metal Gear Solid, I also have fond memories playing the original Gran Turismo on the PS One with my bro, those were good times

I can't even try and pick one, that's way too hard for me. Parasite Eve, Legend of Dragoon, Lunar 1 & 2, MGS, probably a lot of others I'm forgetting.

The original playstation had every good game on every platform, at one time or another. The likelihood of another console getting close to the number of quality titles this system had isnt likely....

For decent four-player games (and maybe platform games?) the N64 blew it out of the water, thanks to having four controller ports by default rather than a multitap that few people bought and therefore few developers supported. Generally though the Playstation had everything else sown up.

Yeah i loved my n64 for about six weeks, got back my FULL investment on it by selling it for Christmas in the fall of 96! I know it had some good games, but i was still messing with the SNES a lot even then so had a glut of games. My girlfriends son had a N64 so i just messed with his some... later on bought one cheap to play the first Zelda...

The N64 took up a lot of my playing time because of the multiplayer games. At the time it was released I was on a school schedule that left me and my friends with chunks of hours between classes, so we would all congregate at my house. Goldeneye, WCW/nWo Revenge, WWF Wrestlemania 2000 (or something similarly titled), Smash Brothers... They were all massive timesinks for us, and were fun in a way that online gaming never has been for me.
