Hiya folks.

I know it may seem like I've become obsessed with chocobos, but I assure you, I'm not. Although it would have been awesome if they did exist in the real world as the dominant form of transportation (just like cars).

Well, FFVIII is due to be released on the EU PSN store this Thursday (4th Feb). I was wondering about the Chocobo raising/leveling system in FFVIII. I distinctly remember (back in the PS1 days) the PS1 copy I had needing a PocketStation to allow leveling up chocobos (there was no other way). What I would like to ask those who have the PSN version (Americans, this means you) is this: Have they worked around this in the PSN version? Or is it still the same?

Because honestly the PS3 (and the PSP) have no memory card slots to enable pocketstation usage. Heck, pocketstations have only been produced in Japan and production has even been discontinued a while back.

lol... i still have two pocket stations... one of them is boxed too. was such a cool idea at the time.

just got ffviii, loved it the first time round, hope to complete it this time round...

its a shame the ps1 game doesnt work on the eu 60gig ps3... ahh well, glad its come to the psn. just waiting for abe now!!

No, I got FF VIII, and they still dont have that feature in the game. It sucks, and I always wondered why they didn't do more with Chocobos like they did in VII and IX.

If I remember correctly, the only NA version (and possibly EU) you could do that feature on was the PC version. That being said, perhaps the EU and NA version of the PC game is the same? That one came with the pocketstation as a separate application. And in English!
