Is the original gameboy (mint condition) worth anything?

My 100% uneducated opinion is no it's not. It's not really old enough to be called antique yet which is when things become worth more money. It was never rare or anything like that, and no one would want to play on one now. You could always look around on Ebay though and see if anyone is selling one and how much they are asking for it. That's always a good place to start.

I wouldn't say that no one would play on one now. I know two people that still use theirs often.

No its not worth much at all. In Electronic terms, The Game Boy is a antique. But the term antique itself never means "worth butt loads of money". Game Boys are not rare so you can easly buy them for $5 or less online.
