The Honda sounded ok and apart from the fact the dealer hadn't bothered cleaning it inside or out it was on my interest list. If I hadn't found the escort I would most likely have gone for it. £1k car and £750 insurance would have saved me a few pennies. As it turns out, my dad might be interested in it if I can get him to take it for a test drive. Needs a few bits of surface rust rubbing down but because it's white, repainting those areas should be straight forward.

We might be taking another look at the weekend at cars for my dad as long as the weather isn't really bad.

Looking at this:
It's $8000 USD, but it's a 2004 with a 2.5 I4 with a 6spd manual; loaded.

175 HP
180 TQ

Price sounds pretty similar to what we'd expect to pay over here for an 03/04 sports coupe.

Couldn't give you the stats on mine but I'm certain they aren't too impressive.

wow thats incredible, how old were you when you joined this site like 7? i'm just wondering! anyway, for a first car get something real cheap. So when you hit something ( and thats bound to happen ) you wont give 2 ****s about it. After like a year or so get something nicer, trust me you wont regret it

who cares how much horse power it has!! with gas bound to hit $4 soon you'd be wishing it was a 2 cylinder! trust me, it doesnt matter what kind of a car you got, cause anyone can go to a dealership and sign for a expensive car, whats more important is how much cash you got in your pocket when you go out! I would much rather drive a decent car with a lot of miles and have no payments and low insurance + cash in my pocket for when I go out, than have like a '07 Infinity with high insurance and be broke!

That's a lot of trust you're asking of the members of this forum. I'm not so sure I'm ready for this kind of relationship.

Here is a pic of my first car, bought in September 1976:

Dodge Dart Swinger, 1970, 240 in line six cylinder, 2 barrel
Mine was light blue with a white vinyl top. Six cylinder engine, got around 30 mpg. Gas at the time was approximately 45 cents a gallon and i could drive over a week on a tank. Definitely a party car, its probably been restored and sitting in somebody's garage somewhere nowadays...

I don't even trust my own family.

On that note, can't say I know Gabe's age, but I 'believe' (keyword there) it's not uncommon to get ones licence even in their early 20s, especially when talking about outside the US. I know people in Scotland (UK) and Melbourne (AU), that didn't get their license until their 20s. They simply never needed it. I think other places around the world tend to make use of mass transportation than we here in the US do. Cost of gas btw in the UK as I understand is around $7 USD... So, $4 would be a big sale for Gabriel!

I hear the U.S. dollar is almost 60% of the euro now so yeah were quickly catching up to them on gas prices, and am sure were getting closer on other things also. Depends on where you live in the U.S., my sister lives in CA and its considerably more expensive for most things there...
