I'd pay very good money to see you say that to a Welsh nationalist! I actually don't speak Welsh (as much as I really wish I could) and the majority of Wales doesn't. In the late 19th/early 20th century our government were put under pressure for the nation to learn to speak English for job prospects and the like, with Welsh being banned in school. Now only 21% (I think) are first language Welsh and they probably all speak English. It's a shame, although I have no problem with English people at all, a lot don't realise how we were opressed back in the day and it doesn't really go recognised.

Incidentally I learnt all this on a school trip in Llangollen almost ten years ago

I always said that we could solve some of the world problems if everyone learnt English.

Difficulty of communication for one thing.

I got my stuff mostly packed and we leave for Boston at 2pm, so it's down to the wire now.
I just hope I don't get searched for narcotics like I did in New Zealand again.

Or explosives in Germany.

So instead of being on the plane to London right now, we're sitting in a hotel after a plethora of delays, including the flight we had booked being canceled. Instead of finding another flight to go on, we have one tomorrow at 7pm and we're stuck here for the night. But we get a $20 voucher for dinner, breakfast, a nights stay at Days Inn, and apparently free internet access here.

Kinda pissed about the whole chain of current events though.

Even with the free stuff the delay must be crappy. No good if you were on your way to an important business meeting or something.

In Dublin right now. Barely got to see London because of the delay, went to Stratford and Oxford, then Llangollen (which my Irish guide pronounced it Clangothen, and I lost my main source of shelter from the cold, my Etnies hoodie, in the Bull Inn bar, after talking with some locals all night and getting pretty drunk. Then we took a ridiculously long boat ride across to Ireland, on a boat that my entire college could fit inside.

So far Dublin seems to be going a bit better, we went to the Guinness Factory today with some friends and I got to replace my lost jacket with a pretty nice Guinness one, although it was 45euros.

Tomorrow, killarney for a few days before leaving for home from Shannon

It has been pretty rainy in London the last few days so it would not have been as impressive. London sucks in the rain
