Get a load of this guy:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...nas/index.html Man, what a transformation of ego he's had in the past couple of years, huh? I didn't realize he'd gotten this full of himself. If I were his team mates, I'd be a little peaved, I think. He's basically saying their accomplishments are mostly his doing, not theirs.

You can't really take anything Gil says seriously, he always just throws ridiculous stuff out there for the hell of it. I'm sure his teammates understand that by now. And I think he's right on in regards to Kobe.
Anyway, whoo-hoo, the NBA is back! As is my tradition, here are my horrible pre-season predictions (by seed, not record): East: 1. Chicago 2. Boston 3. Detroit 4. Washington 5. New Jersey 6. Orlando 7. Toronto 8. Milwaukee Yep, I don't think the Cavs make it back to the playoffs, even though LeBron will have a great year. West: 1. Phoenix 2. Dallas 3. San Antonio 4. Utah 5. Houston 6. Denver 7. New Orleans 8. Golden State I really like Memphis too, but they're still a year away I think. It depends on how well Conely develops. MVP: Kevin Garnett Rookie of the Year: Al Thorton Defensive Player of the Year: Tyson Chandler 6th Man: Jason Maxiell Most Improved Player: Ronnie Brewer (homer pick!) Coach of the Year: Stan Van Gundy

Hey Svos,
Grats to Kobe, and the Lakers, for finally taking a big upturn in their attitude and altitude. With all thats happened in the past 5 years for Kobe to overcome, its good to see him finally get his due. While there has never been any question about his personal capabilities as a player, its now how well he has integrated and helped mold a solid team and been a team player, that he has become noted for. This looks to be a very fun series and very possible championship run for the Lakers at this time. I personally dont see anyone really getting in their way, but we never quite know with this whacky NBA do we, lol........ |

Sort of funny, but I think Kobe's really playing the same game he always has. His biggest change seems to be off the court - reportedly making friendships with his team. That's apparently giving them confidence.
Anyhow, it's been a pretty surprising season, to say the least. Would have predicted almost none of what has actually transpired... Both the Lakers and the Celtics have equal shot to win it, I think - even given that Boston just took Game 1. If LA loses Game 2, though, I think it's Boston's to lose. We'll see.
