It appears from this http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7029135.stm that the average house price is 5 times the average salary of a first time buyer.
My main reason for posting this here is to find out how this compares to other housing markets around the world. I read in another story this morning that house prices started to fall this last month ![]()

It varies by state (and by region within the state, at least in Montana). In my city, the median home price is about 4-6 times. New construction is around twice that (about 8 times the annual salary).
