It is sooo easy to see the difference between SD and HD TV's.
As he didn't specify in what way I'll give an example. watching an SD signal football (soccer) match on a HD tv is damn awful. Makes the players look like they've been superimposed then had the edges randomly pixelated to try and cover it up. Truly horrible. As for the Blu Ray item. I say Casino Royale on the PS3 on my mates HD TV and it looked bright and well defined. I got it and watched it on my SD TV and though it looked good, it just didn't have the same edge to it. My mate has also told me that watching some of his DVD's on 720p they look 'not right' as the equipment is trying to show too much detail that just isn't there. Bear in mind that SD for us in the UK is better than in the states. We get 5 something where as you only get 4 something. Can't remember the exact resolutions I'm afraid. Is it 560 and 480 respectively or something like that.

Well watching DVDs on your HDTV is a massive improvement over standard def TVs, don't get me wrong here. It's much cleaner and looks better (if your TV's or DVD player's scaler do the job well). However, you're never going to get the clarity of a pure HD signal, because the DVD's image is lacking those details that make HD images look good.
If anything, DVDs were the 'scam'. They were originally sold as being disks for HD and flat panels, and as high definition disks (which is true compared to VHS, but not compared to the HD standard). It's actually 240... I just pulled the 220 out of my ass. Glad to see that I was close. ![]()

I guess jas1n doesn't have anything to say. I don't think DVD's, Blu-Ray, or HD-DVD was the scam. It was jas1n who was the scam!

We should have HD-Laser Discs. Think how much data could be held on those hubcaps of optical storage.
