I have just bought this Panasonic HDTV (TX26LXD70)
http://www.panasonic.co.uk/lcd-tv/tx-26lxd70/index.htm I knew it wasnt a 1080p TV but when I just loaded up my PS3 and went through the settings of it etc.... I did it on AUTO and it said something along the lines of your TV can support the following: - 546p (I think) 720p 1080i 1080p!?!? When I was on the PS3 media bar it flashed in the top left that the setting was WIDE and 1080p I loaded up Resistance and it automatically went to 720p When I exited the game it flashed up in the top left saying 1080p I put Casion Royale in on Blu-Ray and for a split second it went to 1080i but then when it went on the trailers and main menu it went back to 1080p.... lol As ive said before I dont know much about this HDTV bumpf lol On panasonics website it mentions 1080p processing chip? Do you think this has something to do with it?

1366 x 768 = 720p native.
Your TV is upscaling to 1080p, which means it's basicall faking it. You have a 720p display. Likewise, games like Resistance are rendered to run no higher than 720p -- take a look at the box. I believe Blu-Ray movies require true 1080p display in order to run in 1080p, otherwise they'll only run in 1080i. |

I'm confused, I thought you just said that that 007 ran in 1080i? Or did it boot up in 1080i and then switch to 1080p? If it switched from 1080i to 1080p after boot up, that's your TV doing that - it enabled the upscaling.

Almost all LCD's today have the technology to upscale to 1080p from 1080i. 1080i technically speaking isn't viewable on an LCD. It wouldn't make sense for an LCD to have an interlaced image. True 1080p is not supported on your LCD TV as Arnold stated.

Yeh sorry didnt make much sense last night!
It switched from 1080i to 1080p. So with my TV upscalling it to 1080p is there any difference? I mean would the upscaled 1080p look better than 720p?

Probably not. You're always better off displaying at your native resolution.
