The Darkness
I don't care what anyone says, their first album is truely great. It's fun, addictive and catchy music imo, and even though they are treated as a bit of a joke band by most people I think they are pretty good. Must say I haven't heard a lot of their second album, but I'm starting to listen to them again so I'll probably give it a good listen soon.
Whats everyone's thoughts on them? Love them? Hate them? Discuss

I love them. The first is absolutely amazing, but the second one was rubbish. They're probably the only band where serious drug use lead to a crappy record. Haha. Shame what happened to Justin...spent 250,000 pounds on blow. That's insane. Can't believe the guy was so close to death so many times, too.

Really? I had no idea that he was a junkie, not that I can say Im that surprised but still. Have you heard anything off his solo album at all? I wonder what that's like.

I believe they are the worst band in the last ten years. if they were an 80's band it could've worked.

But what difference does it make if their in a different generation to when the music would have been more appreciated? Good music is good music no matter which era it's from imo.
Also, just read all that stuff about his addiction, must say I didn't have a clue about any of that at all, really sad in a way

Don't listen to Game_Developer, some things don't really change.
Either way, yeah, it is sad. I took a look at their site some months ago on a whim...and found that. I was pretty shocked. |

Yeah, I could name atleast 10 bands from the last ten years that are a lot worse than The Darkness, but opinions are opinions at the end of the day.
I'm actually pretty surprised that it didn't get a lot of coverage in the press. Well maybe it did lol, but I definately missed it all when it happened.

They're not great by any stretch of the imagination, but their first album is a lot of fun to listen to. As long as you don't take them too seriously, I think they're a pretty enjoyable band.

I wasn't being bias cause of the time. I wouldn't have liked them either way. It's just overglorified powerchorded glam rock.
