You're allowed to have a fully automatic if you have the license. I believe it's hard to get though. My boss/teacher/friend here at my school Dente has at least one full auto. Just a gun enthusiast though, I don't think he even hunts. Just likes shooting crap at the gun range.
I believe so much as having the piece that allows fully automatic fire (even without the accompanying gun) if you don't have the license is a felony or something.

Personally all I own is an airsoft pistol and some BB guns. I like pistols though, I've fired a few here and there, but nothing I'd ever carry, it would be just target shooting for me if I were to get one, which is unlikely anyways.

The problem with UK gun crime is that there is no deterent to stop the criminals. " I have a gun and the member of the public is carrying an umbrella and possibly a pen. I think I'll go and rob him."

If there was a chance that the criminal could get shot then he/she might think twice about committing the crime. Just my 2 cents.

I think that if we tried to take away these peoples firearms, then they would just be replaced by some other weapon of choice, i think people who use guns for harm are cowards as they dont have to be close to someone to shoot them. A lot of gun crime in the uk is unfortunately stemming from an increase in gangs, and turf wars, which is a whole other kettle of fish, i dont believe that there is an easy answer to this topic. xxx

anyway.. why are Automatic guns banned?

i remember when ou guys had that Amnesty where hoods were asked to hand in their weps for PC's.. we did it here too, and it really worked.

I think a lot of peope who have guns at some point wish they never did. so if you give them a week out of ten years to hand in a gun, no questions asked.. it goes a long way to cleaning up the amount of illegle guns on the street..

Actually though, that guns for PC's is a pretty good idea, probably something that they should try doing again in some of these areas with gun problems. It does worry me though as my gf is pretty much set on going to Nottingham University next year, and I would worry about her.
