I am on a bit of a budget at the minute, so your saying if I got an LCD HDTV that was 720p x 1080i because LCD are progressives scans it will be 1080p?

no it will be 720p, but will be able to interpret a 1080i signal and scale it back to 720p.

All HD TVs are 720p and 1080i there would be no need for scaling back, any modles that were 720p only have been discontinued a while ago. I haven't seen one that does 1080p for less than £1500, sony's W and V range are very good tho.
