Default Whos your favorite guitarist?

Strait off the bat I have to give it to my man John Petrucci. He almost makes it as if his guitar is singing, and he also has such a skill for evoking a certain emotion with his guitar. Not to mention IMO the most technically sound guitarist out there right now.

Matt Bellamy from Muse in a close second because of his hypnotizing guitar riffs, and catchy hooks!

I'd have to agree he's one of the most techniclally proficient guitar player's out there, but I do prefer the style's of Richard Z. Kruspe, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray and John Mayer, I just can't pick one

Too many guitarists, but Tom Morrello is a definate stand out for me. I love how inventive and versatile he can be, and all those crazy effects he does. I also love Jimi Hendrix, Larry Lalonde (Primus) and Daron Malakian.

All time it's Eric Clapton, by far. Currently I'd probably say Mike Einziger of Incubus.

My favourite guitarist by far is John Frusciante. I know hes not the best techincal wise but the passion he puts into his playing is just amazing and hes the best funk guitarist IMO.

I love Tom Morello too, but I think he relies too much on effects and it sort of makes people think he is not as good as he actually is!
Hendrix is amazing, so's Clapton, anyone ever seen Rodrigo from 'Rodrigo Y Gabriela'? now he can play an acoustic better than I've seen anyone!!

If were talking about the best though, IMO Joe Satriani or Mark Knopfler would top it for me.

Matt Bellamy, no question. After seeing Muse live, I've come to the conclusion that he is one of the greatest musicians alive. Truly phenomenal how someone can be so good on guitar and piano, yet still sing like no other.
