Hey Scott, I'm a hater, too.

Where's the love... err hate?

Again - it's only the preseason. But still...
Vlad is, if nothing else, a really good shooter. One of the better ones in the league from the outside if you look at his numbers the last few years. I wouldn't worry about preseason, it really doesn't mean anything in basketball. As the year goes on and he gets back into a groove (and used to the new ball, which is apparently giving lots of players fits. Not switching back after just about all the players said they hated it is one of the dumber things Stern has done) he'll be fine. Bynum's always had promise, it's just a matter of if he can put it together or not. Like you said, this early it's impossible to tell.

You're referring to the opening post?

Okay, here goes. *Aherm*

Ryan, stay out of this thread, you poopy-head.

Sorry - that's about all the hate I can muster right now. Maybe if you stepped on my toe or something...

I just read an article that described Kobe as experiencing significant pain while working out before yesterday's game. I guess he can't really jump yet, and he's having a lot of pain when he tries to "step out" and run.

Doesn't seem like a good thing.

Also, as feared, Amare is still having a lot of pain. I was surprised to hear the report during last night's game that the Suns are claiming he's not pushign himself hard enough. He's telling them he's in pain, and they want him to work out harder to get over it. Quite the turn-around from how they felt last season.

Do you think injury issues will overcome Wade in the next couple years? I've heard the theory that his style of play will almost certainly lead to an early major injury. I can see the argument, but I'm not saying I'm in agreement with it.

I'm going to ignore the relative poopy-headedness of Ryan here for a moment to respond to some actual basketball talk.

No, Kobe having knee problems is most certainly not a good thing (well, not for you anyway, I'm okay with it ). Even though he's fairly young, he's been in the league a long time and has a lot of games in those knees. I think you'll probably see more little nagging injuries like that popping up here and there. He's good enough that he should be able to adapt though. I think in the next few years you'll see him start to play more like Jordan post-baseball: less crazy athletic stuff (though I'm sure he'll still have his moments) more jumpers and posting up.

Amare's deal is sad, but it's not totally unexpected. The team is idiotic if they want him to try to push through the pain. He just needs to take it easy; they can survive without him early on, but they need him healthy (or healthier anyway) late in the season. With him at even 80% or so they'd be my Finals pick, without him they're "just" a solid playoff team.

It wouldn't shock me if Wade started to breakdown earlier in his career due to his style of play. That crazy, driving through the lane and pinballing off people stuff that he does can't be easy on the body. But I thought the same thing about Iverson (who's quite a bit smaller than Wade) and he's held up relatively well.

I agree with your assessment of what Kobe's game will probably turn into. It's a little sad, really, 'cause he's so dang impressive to watch. But that's the way of the game, I guess.

One reason Iverson may have faired so well is that he's really light (well, comparatively, anyhow). When he runs into a guy who weighs X pounds, the combined force is less than when Wade runs into the same guy.

Ryan - I'll let it go this time. For a Forum Token
