Default The scariest moment in my entire life!

I was working today. Reparing a problem in one of the local roads with our crew. When one of our flagmen was struck by a van moving well over 60 MPH. The driver didn't even play attention to the signs on the way. And didn't even as much as hit the breaks until after he hit my co worker.

The thing that is really bugging me is the fact that I was under 5 minutes away from replacing the guy. We were hired at the same time. He's been here as long as I have. And its really upsetting me right now.

The guy was 26 years old. And just had his second child. And now hes gone.

I don't even know how I feel right now. Ive seen these situations in movies before. But I never thought I would be involved in one. I can't even begin to explain how I feel.

And now I have to go into the county police station tomorrow and explain to them exactly what happened.

Damn, life can be a b itch sometimes. I feel sorry for the family of your colleague but I'm also glad you're ok.

Just goes to show that you never know when life is going to stop so you shouldn't miss out when a big chance comes along.

I know what you mean. I can't even react right now. I can't help but think about what would have happened had that driver came around 5 minutes later in my shift.

And its far from over. I have no idea whats going to happen when it comes to the law. I do know that i'm going to be caught up in this for a while.

I just can't figure it out. The driver was over 85 years old. And has numerous traffic violations on his record. I know this because my father is the mayor of our town. And the chief of police is a very close friend of mine. It just makes you wonder whether the state or the goverment itself should put some kind of a rule or test into filter these people out.

Often times in these situations a counselor is made available for anyone who feels he needs it.

I would seriously recommend utilizing that if it's available.

My wife is a field engineer with the Montana Department of Transportation. Several years back a contractor's excavator operator she had worked with committed suicide, and her and another state employee found him in his trailer.

She had some pretty serious emotions relating to that incident, many of which I just didn't understand. I'm very glad she was able to speak with a grief counselor, because it was totally beyond my capacity.

I'm really feeling for you, and I hope things work out alright.

That's horrible... Glad your ok man. I've seen stuff like that on tv specials and stuff like that but real life right there in your face, scary. I have nothing against old folks but I do believe there should be some kinda law require you to retake the driving test after you hit a certain age, some old ppl can't drive as good as they need to (like my mom). It's already bad bad enough w/ all the crazy drivers out there.
