wow. I found myself nodding through this article without even realising it.
I gotta say I agree with the writer. Sitting back and saying 'help me' isn't the right attitude to take. The people should have been more pro-active then if the government didn't provide just a little assistance then they would have been in a position to complain. One of the most sickening things about the situation is that you had people stealing from their own neighbours who didn't themselves have any more than they did to start off with. Many of them should be more ashamed of themselves than of their government. Seems some of them were taking the slogan 'Land of Oportunity' a little too far.

I don't completely agree, but I do agree that the Great Society experiment is the biggest failure in modern American history.
The government is not obligated to ensure anything other than your freedom and your protection. Government is not there to feed you, clothe you, or make you happy; government exists to provide you with the liberty neccessary to provide those things for yourself. |
