Early this morning I woke up with pain in my chest, and it prevented me from going back to sleep, so I got up, walked to the store to buy a soda, took a hot shower, tried to post a bit, but it kept getting worse and worse until I simply had to have my father take me to the ER.
Not to brag, but because of the problems with my legs I've become accustomed enough to pain that it takes a lot to bother me. I've been walking around on broken legs for seven years, and I think I handled the pain admirably. This pain, however, had me weeping. I don't mean manly tears, I mean I couldn't stop crying. Nothing in my life ever hurt so bad, and my father thought I was having a pulmonary incident due to blood clots from my surgery (something I was told to be wary of, post op). Well, they couldn't find anything wrong with my heart or lungs. They did an EKG, blood tests, found no clots, no heart damage. The doc fell back on 'you aggrivated your neuroma' referring to the benign nerve tumor I developed when I fractured the cartilege in my ribs when I was 18. My left upper ribs literally look like a baseball, have for almost ten years, and the only thing he could think of was that I must have somehow aggrivated it while sleeping, which I think is bullshit. So, anyway, I'll be doped up on heavier narcotics than usual the next few days, the same Oxycontin I took after my surgery that made me, so I'm told, a lot more mellow and a LOT more weird. Please bear with me. |

Sorry to hear that Ryan mate, hope you are feeling better soon. Sounds like you have confused the poor Doc as well.

Wow, that sounds pretty tough to get through. Hopefully you'll be O.K. soon. I can't imagine walking around like that.
I've never been to the E.R., so I can't really relate. I've had a couple of close calls, but never had stitches, staples, casts, or any of that sort. I've seen so many of my friends go down in sports (naming five: football, baseball, basketball, golf, and interestingly enough, bowling) before my very eyes. It's a wonder how I've been able to avoid this stuff. Anyways, I can't relate, but it sounds pretty tough. Are you still going to be working through all of this? I know you work at home, but hopefully you can get some time off to work things out with yourself. Best of luck. |

Well that sure makes our sprains and knocks sound trivial in comparison.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get better soon.

Thanks guys. So far I haven't had any additional pain, the whole thing is starting to seem surreal. I literally felt like I was dying, and a little more than 24 hours later and I feel fine.
I'm sure the Oxycontin is helping :P |

A little left of center

A lot of people get addicted to it. A former friend of the family used to goto various doctors and feign some problem to get the drug, but eventually someone finally noticed and she got caught with it.
I've been on Hydrocodone and Darvocet before, I don't know how they compare to Oxycontin.. But (per doctors order) I had to take 2 Tylenol, 3 Advil, and one Hydrocodone at the same time one night to stop a horrible pain in my mouth, and let me tell you, I was out. I woke up once at like 3 am after doing that, tried lifting my head, barely moved it an inch, and I was unconscious again before my head hit the pillow. Anyways, Ryan, how the hell are you so beaten up? seems you have like 4 ,000 relatively serious medical problems. |
