You'll have to bare with me on this. I'm bored.
I was just thinking about the forum activity and how the forum is also a community; Then I started to think about how each member would fit if it was an actual community or more specifically, a street. See where I'm going with this? No, thought not but I'll persist anyway. We've got a few categories of members who would fit into specific types of people on a street. I'll start us of but PLEASE add more as you think of them. We've got the ignorant neighbours. These are the ones who we only see once when they move in then they stay in their homes and have no interaction with us at all. ever. Then we've got the curtain peepers (I'd be interested to know what term each nationality has for these sort of people). These are the ones who rarely interact and for the most part just stand at their window peeking out at everyone else. Then you've got the sports fanatics who only ever interact with the rest of the community when it's to respond to sporting discussions. They're the sort who you see playing *insert sport here* in the middle of the road often hitting windows and setting off car alarms. If you're still reading my ramblings, well done ![]() My last contribution for this post is the hated mailbox bandits. These are the ones who don't even live in our community but just appear when we least expect it to bombard us with supposed special offers and deals. The sort of things your grandparents fill out despite you telling them again and again not to. I'm going now as I need a nap. If you're a guest invited or otherwise and you are reading this then don't delay, there are plenty of properties available. Join and tell me what you think (remember to keep it polite or you will be evicted )![]()

I don't think I belong in any of those groups, Gabe. And I don't think you do either.
Funny that you didn't describe how you see yourself... How 'bout those who sign up only to ask a couple questions on the help line, then leave? They're like the neighbor who never interacts with you except to borrow a tool or something. I s'pose there are some of us like the people who see each other every morning as they trundle off to work, then again in the evenings as they trundle home. Passing aquaintances. And I imagine there are a group much like a group of friendly neighbors who get along well and invite each other over for picnics, etc. Man, I must be at least as bored as you are ![]()

I don't know what I could be classified as.
I post something like once a day, so I'm not a lurker. While I do post in mostly the sports threads,it's the same with Farfus, Cowboy, Matthew, and others... it's just an interest, not what we came here for. |

I suppose I fall into the sports fanatic category since that's where the majority of my posts have fallen, and it's the only subject I've ever actually started a topic on (not saying much since I think I've started a grand total of 3 topics since I've been here). I was also pretty active in the music discussions we had frequently but those have kinda fallen by the wayside since Arnold stopped posting regularly.

See, told ya I was bored and just a little bit tired ![]() I'm the sort that's up and out at the crack of a sparrows (northern saying) eagerly greeting the morning risers and those who are maybe just finishing their day. I pop home at lunchtime to say hello and give my views, also occassionally getting a brain glitch and discussing the wierd and wonderful. Then I'll maybe even pop my head out of the door later in the evening to say hi to those who are just getting home from work. Oh god! I think I'm becoming Ned Flanders without the religion EDIT:: I got it wrong in my earlier post. It has been confirmed that the term is in fact 'Curtain Twitcher'. Apologies for getting it wrong.

I guess there'd be a neighborhood grandpa who sits on his porch on the front lawn, who takes away your ball when you're playing (insert sport here) and it rolls onto my lawn one too many times. That would have been Arnold to a T.
Then, I suppose there's me, the neighborhood activist who never shuts up about local politics no one cares about, who's always trying to rouse interest in some political minutae. Or I could be the neighborhood 'bad apple' who's always running around causing trouble, who gets drunk and hits on your sister at the annual Lot Party. With that, I go to bed. |
