Default I just had the worst nightmare

I haven't had a nightmare in years. Even when I used to get them on an infrequent basis, they weren't enough to freak me out or really upset me, but this one has me out of bed right now smoking a cigarette.

I'm not going into the details, as I'm sure it would make no sense to anyone else, but man, when you NEVER have nightmares and then have one that actually shakes you up, it's pretty freaky. It even caused sleep paralysis, which some of you may not be familiar with, but it is essetially when you wake up but are still in a dream like state and can't move. It gives the nightmare an even more ****ed up feeling, as for a few seconds it feels like you're living it.

This anyone ever happened to anyone else? It ****ing SUCKS.

I think I know what you're talking about, because I remember once back when I was younger something similar happened to me. It was many years ago when I was a little kid, but I remember having a dream and waking up, and I couldn't move my body, it felt like everything felt like it weighed a thousand pounds, and I didn't know what was going on, so naturally I pretty much screamed for my mom, but after I started screaming, feeling came back and I could move again.
It was incredibly freaky.

I've never had that happen, but I'm always afraid of having nightmares, and the though of having one keeps me up at night.

Sleep Paralasys is a psychological state of mind. You are awake while your mind is slow to realize this it keeps your body asleep. Most common times this happens is when you are having a nightmares. I have never had this happen to me but best way to get out of this state is to relax and your body will awake from its sleep.

A good thing to do is write down all your dreams once you awaken from them if you believe something was truly freaky. Sometimes your dreams can come together and you can see what they mean.

I actually tried doing this, i kept a notebook near my bed and if i were to awake from a dream i would write it down. I actually did this to practice dreaming. I wanted to be able to control my dreams, but i got lazy and i was like **** it this is going to take forever and stopped doing it.

But there are people that practice and over time are able to control their own dreams. It's not recommended because your time in REM Sleep is cut down significantly and you do not regain as much energy as you are supposed to. But it's like a natural high where you can do anything you ever wished.

Sorry is i strayed off the subject slightly, but hey i hope everything is ok with you. I would recommend writing the dream down just incase it happens over.

I haven't had a nightmare in very many years.

I don't know that there is any direct correlation, but I don't think I've had a nightmare since I've been a Christian.

I'm not suggesting that Christians don't have bad dreams; I don't even know for a fact that I have been nightmare-free since accepting Christ. Just saying that I was thinking about it one day several years back, and came to that realization.

It got me to wondering about the ability of demons to influence the human mind. There's no question (in my mind, nor in the minds of countless Christians) that demons are able to make suggestions into conscious human minds, so I wonder if they're able to do the same to sleeping minds. It caused me to consider demonic influence as a potential source of nightmares.

Just so we're clear, that was all just mental rambling on my part. I have absolutely nothing whatsoever to prove or disprove any of it (nothing Biblical or scientific). It's all just ponderings.

It's entirely possible that the timing of my last nightmare was coincidental with my maturation from adolescence. Again, I'm not saying adults don't have nightmares; they just seem to have fewer than children.

Anyhow, no I don't think I've ever had a sleep paralysis experience, though I have heard the term.

Hope everything's okay, Ryan. Think warm, fuzzy thoughts (or watch Oxygen), and go back to bed.

I don't really have nightmares but I do have sort of sleep spasms.

If you walk downstairs in the dark and you miss a step, your internal organs do a flip and you get a little light headed, right?

Well that's the sort of thing I get when I'm laid in bed trying to go to sleep. It happens every few nights. Not exactly scary but danged annoying.

it's been a while since i had a nightmare, and i have never had any type of paralysis caused by a nightmare...never even heard of that happening, but it sounds crazy

i do think i know what gabriel is talkin about tho...i've had that happen a few times, and it kinda feels like you're about to fall out of ur bed and no matter how deep of a sleep u may have been in, ur wide awake after this happens...sucks ass

Yeah, know what you mean. Sometimes I'll be starting to fall asleep and start dreaming, like I'm running or riding a skateboard, then I fall into the sidewalk or something and it'll spark me awake.

I also have nothing to prove or disprove. I just wanted to have another good laugh.
