When I used to work here, I worked very hard to recruit new people to visit our forum. Some of the regulars we have today are thanks to that, like Lefty.
However, it seems like this place has stagnated over the past year, and while I'm not arrogant enough to think it's because I'm not here that much anymore, I can't help but come to the conclusion that this place will die without that same kind of effort. I love PSXE, despite whatever disagreements I may have had with Arnold (and I'll always dig Arnold, no matter what, because he is coolness) but face it, this place is dying. At Gamespot, when I used to post there, I'd run a monthly contest, where I gave out a free game. Would that kind of thing help here? What if I promised a free game to the person who helped recruit the most REGULAR posters in any given month? Would that motivate you to recruit cool, smart, non noobish people? What if I promised a free game, also, to the person who posted the most NON SPAM messages in a given month? Would that help? I don't want to see this place die, but if we, the members, don't do something quick, it will. So, if you care about this place, help me help us help the site (wow, a mouthful). Seriously. We can't bitch about activity if we do nothing to boost it oursevles. |

I think I recruited the last regular poster looking at the member list.. My Sister..
I'm willing to give it a go, without a free gift 'cos I love this forum.

We have to save our own forum, and I'll do WHATEVER to do it. I LOVE this place, I really do. I'll gladly pay a game a month to boost it. But I'm not going to give away a free game because someone got ONE person to post here. I'd like to see REAL effort. It's not hard, it really isn't. Hey Gabe, hit me up on XBL! |

From the three forums i frequent people have pretty much dropped off in participation. The reasons vary, but this forum isnt much different than what im seeing in those. If we had more to talk about video game wise it would help, but unfortunately this hasnt been an exciting world in gaming, not from my experience anyways...

I would love to see a few more members, and if a contest would do it, go for it. But I guess it's easy for me to say that, since I wouldn't be paying for it.
Either way, I don't mind a smaller community because a lot of the people here are quality posters. On a Yankees board I visit regularly, there's a ton of members, and a ton of bad apples. But it's a little annoying going to this forum and only seeing six or seven posts in a day. I can't complain, because I'm not a "super-poster" myself and I don't really try recruiting, but I'd love a few more members. |

Didn't Arnold try the "free game" thing awhile back? I don't think it really panned out.
Not that I'm trying to discourage you. I'm all for a little more activity. However, I can't say that I really mind it being a "backwater" site. Maybe that's because I grew up in a backwater environment...

I hear where you're coming from Ryan. I remember my first few years here, like before the PS2 even came out this place was always alive and active. But now, I think its been longer than a year now, its been a ghost town.
Giveaways may help, but I don't know. Wouldn't hurt to try. Is traffic to the main page slow nowadays, or is it going strong? |

Back in the end of the PS days and beginning of the PS2 days, there was tons of things to talk about game wise. Now with practically nothing new coming out and otherwise just dull sequels there isnt much to talk about in the game industry, which is what this forum was originally all about. That and people go off to college, start new lives, go other directions. Being able to keep long time people has meant a lot, there are many forums that disappear off the map, and this forum hasnt done that yet so all is not lost...

I'm not so sure it's a problem of not getting new members as much as it is that a lot of the former "regulars" aren't posting nearly as much as they used to (myself included), which is sad since I really liked the small, active community that we had there for awhile. I'm with Ryan, I love this place, it's the only forum I've ever regularly visited and it's been a blast, it'd be a shame to see it die. I suppose I'll give it a go and try to get some new members posting around here as I agree, some new blood would probably freshen the place up a lot but I'd also like to see some of the old gang (Arnold, Magoosh, ect.) post more again.
