The spelling was up in the air until literally the last minute.
My wife was going to spell it "Jadon," but I told her that defies the laws of grammar (a mysteriously long 'a' is a little weird). And she didn't want him to get called 'Jay,' so we went with the Jae spelling... Then I told her people will just call him 'Don' :P

Not at all, Gabe. I actually thought it was really cool
My wife said, "who's Michael (Gabriel013)?" So I told her, and she said, "oh, I thought he sounded like a Brit." ![]() I think the "mum and dad" gave you away ![]() That page will be up (hosted by the hospital) for 90 days. I'm going to print off the page and the guestbook just before they take it down, then my wife's gonna put them in Jaedon's scrapbook. So, 50 years from now I'll look at it and remember you (hypothetically, anyway). Either that, or I'll go: who's the Brit?:P

How's the other son reacting to the new addition? Happy, jealous? Or does he even understand what's going on yet (I don't know how old he is, but I seem to recall you posting when he was born not that long ago so I'm guessing one or two)?

My first son was born on September 11, 2003, which puts him at just under two years old now.
Interesting that it doesn't seem that long ago, but it really was almost two years. I can already see that he'll be heading off to college before I even know what happened... Anyhow, we warned the oldest for a few weeks that we were gonna get a baby. His personality is such that as long as he's got some warning, he can handle just about anything. When I brought the oldest to the hospital room the first time, he knew who was gonna be there. It was pretty interesting to watch him react, because he was pretty curious to see what the kid looked like. Honestly, though, I think he's just now getting the concept of what it means to have a brother. He's pretty proud of himself for knowing the baby's name (he'll ask you to ask him the baby's name, so he can tell you :P ). He realized the kid was staying with us after the first couple of days. I pray with my oldest son each night before he goes to bed. The past week or so, I've been asking him who he wants to pray for. He thinks about it for a bit, then he says, "Mommy. Brother." Pretty cute. Oh, and a couple nights ago, the baby woke up crying in the middle of the night (as babies are wont to do), and Nathan woke up as a result, if only partially. I went over to tell him to go back to sleep; he was SO tired - he could barely keep his little eyes open. But he looked up at me and asked, "Baby - okay?" Then he just crashed. It was so sweet and so cute. I've got a million little stories like that about my boy; they're just about tear jerkers for a mushy dad, but I suppose they're boring as all get out for you guys Anyhow, aside from being a little rambunctious around the new one, the older boy is doing outstanding. I couldn't ask for more.

Aww, the baby's really cute, though he looks like he wants to say "Hurry up and get that camera outta my face. D:<"
Congratulations! |

That's exactly what he was saying (more or less).
My other boy was the same way. They take the pictures by laying the baby on a board beneath a rigged-up camera, and there are a bunch of lights around. It really doesn't help that the poor kids have been out of the womb for a whopping three or four hours, just had their first bath, are probably freezing cold, and generally haven't got the first clue as to what all of this means, other than it sucks compared to where they were. But that's just a guess...
