$2179 for a band new iMac G5, 20" Widescreen, 250GB SATA HD, 1GB Ram (1 Dimm), Superdrive, and Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse, and a new 20GB iPod.
I got the sweet education discount that comes with a free iPod Mini or a $179 dollar mail in rebate towards the purchase of a different iPod; so it's only going to run me $2000 when it's all over with. I've never spent that much money in my life, at one time anyway, but I've deemed it a worthy investment. PCs blow, it's simply not safe (or practical for that matter) to surf the web anymore. That and ever since the latest build of OSX was released, I've been swooning over Widgets and the Dashboard on a regular basis. |

I actually just got pretty much the exact same computer not that long ago, also using the sweet education discount for a free iPod mini. I like it quite a bit, and OSX is really nice.

Did you know that in the near future, no exact date, but all Mac's will be using Intel X86 CPU's. And OSX will be or atleast from what has been said through rumors has already been coded for the Intel chip. From what was said they already have early versions of Mac G4 Powerbooks with Intel Chips running Mac OSx.
It's funny how Microsoft starts using Power PC CPU's and a Mac G5 for XBox 360 and Apple is going to use Intel chips for there newer Macs.

Intel's new line of CPU runs on levels far faster then the PowerPC CPU and it is the future of CPU's. Intel's new line of CPU's is what will be competing with IBM's Cell Chip. PowerPC is old technology. Think about it, a console like XBox 360 will have 3 3.6GHz PowerPC CPU's. And computers are usually more powerful, this is a smart move on Apple's hand. Just like Apple stayed on top with the PowerPC CPU, with time comes change, and to stay on the market with new technology such as the Cell Chip Apple has made the correct move. The PowerPC is currently the best CPU on the market, but within a Year's worth of time it won't be the most powerful CPU.

I'm well aware of the status of current processors; Hence I bought a new iMac with a PowerPC G5. Sure, in a year there will be bigger and better things, but if I used that logic I'd never have anything.
