Default Terror Attacks in London

This morning we've had 5 terror attacks in london: Two destroyed buses and 3 subway trains/stations.

So far there have been 2 confirmed dead with over 100 others injured.

An Islamic group have claimed responsibility.

Aren't we going to have a fun time leading up to the Olympics in 7 years time

update:
its 7 bombs now... and over 20 dead but probably more to come?

but when this email came to me.. they said there had been only 6.

Tony Blair has spoken about this morning's explosions on buses and Tubes in the capital.

Speaking from the G8 summit in Gleneagles, he said his thoughts were with the victims and families of those involved in the 'barbaric events.'

He said:

"It is important that those engaged in terrorism realise that our determination to defend our values and our way of life is greater than their determination to cause death and destruction to innocent people in a desire to impose extremism on the world."

There have so far been six confirmed incidents in different parts of London.

The PM will fly back to London soon before returning to the summit later today. He and the other leaders have agreed to carry on today's meetings without him.

edit: they now say its six bombs... still, its 6 too many

terrible

I heard about this on the radio at work this morning. A very terrible thing indeed ... apparently no relation to the Olympics announcement what so ever though...

There were only 4 bombs. 3 on tube trains and 1 bus.........

Unbeleivable day in the city. I work were the first one went off. My sympathys go to those involved....

Praise to the emergency services though, they did a great job in extreme circumstances

I've seen a few news reports where they were talking to American eye witnesses and they were all amazed at how calm and collected the londoners were in dealing with the incident. They were expecting mass panic. That's true british grit for you eh?

I've read a copy of the message posted on the Islamic website after the attack. I'll post it here if anyone is interested..

(earliest I can get back online is Sunday evening. Leaving work in 1 hour)

yes indeed... but more down to the fact that we as Brits have been living through terrorist attacks for over 30 years now (IRA), so we know how to deal with it I guess.

when USA had that terrible attack on that building (wasnt it the shoe guy??).. anyway, America hadnt 'really' exp terrorism so close to home in such a way, so panic and mayhem were unleashed.

but unfortunatley since 911 took place they are now on the ball.

I say unfortunately because personally I would rather live with out the fear of attack, but I understand why the Brits have become sort of cold about it now.

maybe cold isnt the right word, but stiff upper lip sounds a bit wrong.... but I guess you guys know what im trying to say...

Sad stuff.

I agree though, your country seems to be dealing with it pretty well which is admirable.

Scare in Birmingham over the weekend as well. City centre evacuated. Not sure of the details though.

This is the posting from the Islamic website:

----------------------------------------------------------
"In the name of God, the merciful, the compassionate, may peace be upon the
cheerful one and undaunted fighter, Prophet Muhammad, God's peace be upon
him.

Nation of Islam and Arab nation: Rejoice for it is time to take revenge
against the British Zionist Crusader government in retaliation for the
massacres Britain is committing in Iraq and Afghanistan. The heroic
mujahideen have carried out a blessed raid in London. Britain is now burning
with fear, terror and panic in its northern, southern, eastern, and western
quarters.

We have repeatedly warned the British Government and people. We have
fulfilled our promise and carried out our blessed military raid in Britain
after our mujahideen exerted strenuous efforts over a long period of time to
ensure the success of the raid.

We continue to warn the governments of Denmark and Italy and all the
Crusader governments that they will be punished in the same way if they do
not withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. He who warns is
excused.

God says: "You who believe: If ye will aid (the cause of) Allah, He will aid
you, and plant your feet firmly."

--------------------------------------------------------

Almost unbelievable attitude to have if you ask me.
