Yeah, good luck shirt. I usually have to put in 12 hour days. On average I work around 60 hours a week. Monday through Friday 7 am - 7 pm. And I know thats a bitch. It makes you about worthless when you get home, most of the time.

Hope that goes well for you.

Anything over about 10 hours/day wipes me out mentally for the whole evening. I suppose it depends on the stress level of what you're doing, though.

60 hours a week is way too much for me. More than 50, and I'm toast for most of the weekend...

A good friend's wife is a doctor. She puts in 80 hour minimum weeks. That is inhumane. Ruins family life.

I've never tried the three long days schedule, but my mom is a registered nurse; she used to work three 12s per week. Worked well for her.

Here's hoping you enjoy your 4 days off!

Sounds like my dad (also a doctor). He works an absolutley insane work-week, including call days where he works around the clock with about 2 hours of sleep (maybe). Oddly enough, I've grown up watching this and still decided to shoot for the same profession...I must be crazy.

Damn, I appreciate my 37.5 hour week more now. At a stretch I'll end up working 40 hours but it's almost never more than that.

You are nuts, Cowboy. I wish you well in that endeavor...

Gabe, is the 37.5 hour week the norm over there? I had heard that the typical work week was shorter in some European countries than it is for us (40/week).

I actually only work four days per week (anywhere from 32 to 45 hours, typically). I used to work 5 per week, but I take off Mondays to watch my boy.

I'm not sure that it's really a day "off," but it's not going to my job, so that makes it a break of sorts

I think the standard for office staff is 37.5 and for manual workers it's about 40 per week. That being said, the manual workers usually get paid overtime whereas office workers are usually expected to do the extra work for nothing. In some European countries the working week is much shorter than ours. Just like you guys, the Australians work some crazy hours.

The 12hr shift thing isn't for everyone....I 've had 1 job working 5-5 so I could still make it to class at 6pm get off at 11pm go home get about 3-4 hrs of sleep and right bact at work again. Let's say that schedule left me very very burnt out and ruin a prior relationship.

Funny thing is I always thought if maybe the school hours were cut I'd still be o.k. since I was making 15$ an hour. we'll after I took a lil break from school ended up getting laid off a month later, lost my car to a accident (not to mention me and the gf at the time split) lost my apt and couldn't find work for almost 6 months and found a shit as job I hate but it pays the bills (the giant ass load of debt I accumulated while not working for all those months)....look at it in the long run man.

Hell work is shit and most ppl I know don't like their job even at one point and time they, did so think about it for you drop the job. make sure you at least find something else be4 you quit, cause hey like you said...8hr% > 0$hr.

I still haven't been sleep since last night and have to be at work in 2 hrs, so excuse my ramblings but I'm sure some good advice is in there somewhere!
