We're certainly aware that our review slate has been a bit lacking recently, and are doing the best we can to remedy the problem.

One of the biggest things to remember is that we're not necessarily getting games directly from publishers for review as much as we used to. That leads to waiting for games to come out at retail (or rental) and then playing them through. We're doing the best we can to continue to foster PR relations with publishers, but with SO many websites bombarding publishers for reviewable material, it's become extremely difficult to get into their rotations.

As Ryan said, I have returned-- initially in a contributing role, but hopefully moving back to something more full-time-- plus Bill Long is doing a good job and my buddy Ryan has said that he's going to try to help out as much as possible. We're hoping to get caught up before E3 rears its head and steals away most of our full-time staff. I just finished up a review of MVP 2005 and will be working on MLB 2K5 this week... plus I pre-ordered God of War, if Arnold doesn't get to it first-- although word is that he's knee-deep in PSP coverage.

If and when the XBox project rolls out, we will continue to strive to do our best within the means we're given. Most of the current staff has a full-time job aside from working here, so balancing the two isn't always easy. All I can ask of you is to please continue to be patient with us as we grow once again and adapt to ever-changing conditions. We do it for you guys and because we simply love to talk and write about something that's near and dear to us... and we're always grateful that you all take the time to read what we put together.

[/soapbox]

Ok, I guess I've been ignoring this topic long enough -- I'm quite surprised it's evolved into a debate about this site's content.

First off, we've improved our review coverage quite a bit over the past months. Aaron and Frank have been doing a decent job of holding things together, but with Bill and Peter on the ball, content will stream a bit quicker. In addition to the four of them, I apparently have juice left in me. With the burden of reviewing every PS2 game known to man practically off of my shoulders, I feel like I can relax and flow with these guys as well. Yes, it takes me a little time to roll something out; but I've got like a bajillion things going on in my life day in and day out (full time in school is one of them) and I also refuse to half-ass a review; I have to play a game extensively beforehand.

In essence, we have a staff of 5 people. two (soon to be three -- Pete...we'll talk on AIM soon) full time, one part-time and me. Yep, I'm rollin out the PSP stuff. I've put in enough time into WipeOut and the review is in progress now. Next up on the ball will be NBA (no pun intended), following that will be World Tour Soccer, and lastly is Gretzy. The site is reborn and has been revitalized since I took a more controlling lead and left Aaron and Frank to work on content; and the site's content has practically been overhauled thanks to them.

As far as the Xbox site, I don't understand why people would think that I'd take this current staff and break them up into an Xbox sect. You guys do understand that I can always just hire new talent, right? So that's a discussion not worth throwing a fuss over, because the ailment is all too obvious.

Anywho...that's the jist of it, I suppose. Carry on and cheerio.

I would help if I was motivated. An X-Box section should be cool, Microsoft has really turned it around after a terrible first year or so.

But is there enough solid interest in Nintendo systems to warrant the extra costs involved with creating and running a seperate site?

i'd say go for it... I'm stil sketchy on a cube section... Only cause they have a good game once every blue moon... Can't stop playing double dash though.... But Xbox, I'd fully support.

Well, I fully support an Xbox section, I dont think a GC section would be as useful. I know I wouldnt be able to write much GC stuff, sure I could do old games, but it isnt often that I get a new game, however, I get new Xbox games quite regularly, so it'd be very easy for me to review regularly.

Either, way I'm fully behind the decision thats made.

Obviously there is. Have you ever seen Nintendo fanboys at work?

Would we really want to draw that sort of element to the combined forums?
