Is there any legal reason why the competitions are available only to US members or is it simply because the prizes are US region machines?

If there's no legal requirements then it would make more sense for the competitions to be open to all as we do get quite a lot of international visitors.. Right?

I can assure you there are legal issues here. What constitutes 'games of chance' changes from country to country, as do eligibility requirements and other issues. I'd be suprised if there weren't at least a few legal roadblocks preventing global inclusion in these contests you guys are talking about, and I can say that without even knowing what the prizes are.
