I knew what you meant. But yeah, I'm not even out of high school yet, and I can even tell you that you shouldn't even "take a break". It could seriously hurt you later on, although if you do manage to pull it off, more power to you.I'm waiting a year after high school before I go to college. That way I know I'm ready to go and I'll be able to focus on my college work more than anything else. Well, besides certain significant others. O.o

Well like you I wanted to take a year off FIRST and work. But I felt pressured to go by my family, it was more important to them then me. So I went. I've alreay decided to take the semester off. But I'm definately going back, I know statistics say most people dont. But this really is strictly so I can have spending money while in college for the next 3 1/2 years. I'm basically working to make it easier on myself. So I don't have to work. personally, I didn't like working and going to school at the same time. So this way, with my new job, I make 350 a week (counting taxes taken out). thats 1400 a month. So I figure 200 insurance and 200 spending money a month... So I shoudl have 7-8000 by next semester. I think that will hold me over at college.

Chances are 90% you'll not go back. That's not me being a prick, just a realist, because the overwhelmingly vast majority of people who 'take some time off' end up never returning.

Understood, and I respect your opinion. But I definately want to go back. Going to school is something I always want and will do. I want to go for psychology. And definately will go back. Ill never be able to practice in this area without a degree. So I asure you I'll go back.

Which is all fine and dandy, and I hope you do end up doing so, my friend. College is important, and that wasn't so cool of your family to pressure you. I mean, unlike normal school (i.e.: Elementary, Junior High, and High School), you're an adult by the time you should be entering college, and no one should have to make you do anything.
But, I'm glad you've decided to head back. Not to make it sound like it had me worried all day, but it was a concern, as hard as that may be to believe. Happy schooling, dude.

Basically, I'm curious about what area you're interested in. Graduate school and at least a master's degree are generally necessary to work directly in most areas of psychology. If you're even considering being a therapist or working in clinical psychology, a PhD or PsyD is required. These degrees usually take around eight years to acquire.
