"By the end of Tuesday's search, more than 300 bodies had been recovered from Phi Phi, where most buildings were flattened by the wall of water generated by the 9.0-magnitude quake, the world's biggest in 40 years."

It does make you wonder why the people were not warned after such a large earthquake.

I know there was probably not much that could have been done but they could have at least cleared many of the beaches.

Wondering that is definitely reasonable.

Incidentally, Phi Phi was also the island where Leonardo DiCaprio's The Beach was filmed, so the tsunamis are actually the island's second multimillion dollar disaster. Ehh...*pulls collar*

Death toll climbs over 76,700 now. That's over twice the amount of people that live in my town.

Read an article saying it's possible it could reach 100,000.

We've had news from Jason.

He's fine. He was due to fly out to Phuket the day after boxing day so he had a lucky escape.

Yeah, Arnold told us about that one a little while ago, back when he was still missing. The media didn't mention him much though, at least from what I've seen. I read that he saved his daughter, not his nephew.
