I will admit that I'm surprised they're still doing well, but I'm not ready yet to concede that they're the real deal.
If they can come back and win games with some regularity following the All Star break, then I'll tip my hat I'm curious to see how Carter will do in NJ. I haven't read anything that indicates how J. Kidd and R. Jefferson feel about it. One would expect them to be happy about it, considering Carter's statements saying he's happy to be the 3rd option (or, as he put it, "that other guy"). He could certainly be a big-time addition to that team. I think he's one of those guys who performs better with a little less pressure. Nothing wrong with that, either, imo.

Carter's problem is that he IS happy to be "the other guy" when he has the talent to be the main guy. It's hard to think a more dissapointing player than him. His first couple of years he was driving fearlessly and dunking on everyone, then there was that playoff game they lost to Philly where he flew back from his graduation and he got hurt the next year and he's never been the same. Now instead of using his insane athletic ability he sits back and launches jumpers all game. That said, when Kidd gets back Carter's probably not bad guy to have running with Jefferson on the break, if nothing else they've got some potential to be exciting. Unfortunatly they also have NO good inside guys to grab rebounds and start that break or play some interior defense which doesn't really matter against MOST of East but will against top teams. They've got a good chance at the playoffs but they'll be one and done.

He was never the complete player that LeBron is (who I think is the best player in the NBA) but yeah he certainly was electrifying. I used to go out of my way to catch every game he played in that was on TV, now I could care less. I still watch my taped copy of his dunk contest all the time though, it's still astounding after I've seen it around 100 times. That was the most incredible display of raw, explosive, athletic ability I think I've ever seen. It really sad that we may never see that player again for whatever reason.
